Diversity-oriented two-step APEX opens new nanographene space! Starting from unfunctionalized PAHs, we can rapidly access structurally diverse and complex nanographenes including a negatively curved 5–6–7-ring framework. Congrats Honami and the team!

A research team involving Professors @gatsogia.bsky.social and Bart Jan Ravoo has shown that peptides carrying a flat carbon network aggregate into long fibres in water. Using cryo-electron microscopy, the researchers analysed the structure with record resolution.

Cryo-EM resolves the fibers at 1.7 Å, revealing tightly packed protofilaments, ordered water channels, and a unidirectional dipole along the fiber. Together, aromatic stacking, polar interactions, and water organization generate emergent electrostatics and mechanical resilience.

Mission complete! As a CNRS chemistry ambassador, I did 7 lectures at 7 different places in France in 11 days! 3800 km by trains! It was hard but huge fun to find lots of seeds for future collaboration! Thanks everyone! I will come back!!
