Of course, Jill Biden did something far worse. By shielding Joe's deterioration and urging him to seek a 2nd term, she prevented a robust set of primaries among the Dems' excellent field of potential presidential candidates. By the time Biden bombed in the debate, it was too late for that.

Traditionally, in common use in North America, Dr. was used for MDs, surgeons, veterinarians, and dentists. That seemed sensible. Academics who addressed fellow PhDs as Dr. came off as pompous. Then the whole Jill Biden business blew up. Lefties & feminists rushed to defend her, unwisely in my view.

Seriously? The basis for the "harrassment" claim is that he had sex with a student, sex the student eagerly and enthusiastically participated in. Sex between teachers and students is as common as medium double-doubles. If it is automatically a firing offense, tens of 1000s of academics must go.

Of course the shingles vaccine should be free. All vaccines should be. Vaccinated people save the healthcare system millions, if not billions. But even if you have to pay for it, get the shingles vaccine. Shingles is a nasty affliction, whether or not it shortens your life.

I was only 3 in 1948, and sat out that election. However, by 1952 I was 7. My mother and I passed out Stevenson leaflets to morning commuters at the Chappaqua NY railroad station. It was a futile effort, I'm afraid. The commuters were all rock-ribbed Republicans.

I voted last week in the ward that includes 14 Plympton. Straight Dem. ticket with 1 exception: Ed Markey. Fallows is 77; Markey 80; Donham 81. I believe an 80-year-old should not seek a 6-year term, for reasons of generational fairness & declining energy/cognition. Time to end the gerontocracy.

UPDATE: Sinai generously engaged in an extensive back and forth with me about this issue. Result? Rheir brand has less sugar than Sobey's compliments, but quite a bit more sodium. They based their claim on the regular version of the big brands (Kraft, French's, et.) not niche or low sodium versions.

I'm almost out of ketchup, and I've been bombarded with ads for Sinai gourmet ketchup. So I did a Claude search for 'best Canadian-made low sodium, low sugar ketchup.' Answer: none of the fancy schmancy gourmet brands like Sinai. Sobey's Compluments low sodium brand topped the list.

Yes, and the bench strength for the 2028 presidential primaries is the best in a generation or two. The problem in 2024 was that Biden held on so long, there was no opportunity to test Harris in primaries. For the GOP, 2028 primaries will be among 3 MAGAs. Dems will be a parade of talent.

I go to Dunedin every Spring to watch Blue Jays spring training. It's a ritual I treasure, but I won't do it anymore. That's a decision I can make. But my granddaughter, who won a full scholarship to an ivy league university 3 yrs ago damn well returned for her junior year. So would you, obviously.
