There are two new options on the Settings > Interface tab. For those trying to memorize the points for different Fu/Han, you can test yourself after each hand. :) #mahjong #indieGame

Finally got around to implementing a "Hide Fu/Han" and "Hide Points" toggle to @kemonomahjong.bsky.social, to aid those trying to learn scoring and want to "quiz themselves". Still got to get some translations and some gamepad support implemented, but it's mostly done. :) #indieGameDev #mahjong

In my experience it's considered more like you're potentially giving away information if you're grouping tiles visibly. I suppose that could be a tactical move if you're clever enough to trick others, though? There's no rules against it.

Depends on what style/variant you're interested in. Riichi/Japanese is one of the most popular online... Riichi City supposedly has a good tutorial, but the risque art style isn't for everyone. You might be interested in my app too. :^) Hong Kong: an app called simply "Hong Kong Mahjong" might work

Visiting my parents in Scotland; found the mahjong set I grew up with. We played Chinese/European Classical style... it was after I moved to Canada that I learned Riichi (Japanese style). #mahjong

Am old mahjong set, with tiles in trays, 4 sticks for arranging players' hands, dice, and colourful scoring chips.

Some "how to play" booklets are reading in the top part of the open case.

A really old "let's play mahjong" instruction book, dated "1976/1977"

Interesting, thanks for the overview of it. It looked interesting when I saw them mention it on Reddit, but I'm a bit less keen with the AI-generated feeling you mention. Maybe they can refine and give it a more human touch in time (?).

Heh... yes, you cracked it I guess. I did obfuscate it, but there's only so much one can do. :/ Yes, the difficultly ratings are hand assigned based on many, many rounds of play and, well, "feel".

Kansas City Riichi Mahjong uses the Japanese (riichi) style of play. They host meet-ups for all skill levels at Cardboard Cafe at the Lenexa Public Market each week on alternating Thursdays and Sundays. They also host open play sessions at events like KantCon and Midwest GameFest
