Been MIA as migration is meant for being out with the #birds and not as much on the line
Male american redstart is a small black warbler with orange flanks a white belly and orange patches on its wing and tail feathers that it uses to flush insects. This particular one is on a thin branch with some leaves in focus with a green bokeh background

Black and White Warbler, the Blockhouse #birds
Amongst a background of green leaves a small tree shoots out of the ground on one of the stems there is a black and white warbler that looks like a small zebra bird with a bug in its mouth. It has its legs clinging to the branch and is vertically hanging out to our right similar to the pose of a nuthatch.

Angry Chicken (Ovenbird) #birds
Among a pile of dead leaves with one single little group of live leaves in the foreground there is an ovenbird a small warbler that looks similar to a thrush with a brown back white belly brown speckling and an orange crest. He is staring at the camera with a disgruntled expression. This bird is called an ovenbird due to the shape of its nest.

Super special Central Park visitor- a Chuck-wills-widow joined for the day! #birds
A blue jay-sized bird hides flat against a branch in the center-left of the photo. He is buffy brown with a flat head and white undertail and matches the tree branches quite well.

A pair of mourning doves has started eating at my windowsill with the usual pigeon flock. I'm surprised at how not shy the doves are with me but also how patience the pigeons are there was like five watching the dove eat which if you know pigeons.....

Very small insect catching bird that reminds me looks wise of a cross between a vireo and an empid, smaller than either. I've learned to take a good photo of them you need to stand very still on the right side of the light and just let them come to you.

Female red winged blackbirds often can throw people off identification wise. They tend to arrive after their mail counterparts and be a lot more skulky. They also look completely different!

This set of a video and pictures was from around 4 weeks old. Mom was feeding one of the chicks when something flew a little too close. Mom kept her eye on it and puffed up. So lucky I got to watch this family and see cool moments like this.🪶

Well then!! 👀 Clearly Turkey vultures can read 😁 That’s the first one I’ve seen land on the calibrated fence! Let me do the calculations… It’s BIG! A couple have been flying low just past the fence lately. The largest bird to land on the fence, by a long shot! #birds
A very large bird has landed on a backyard fence, its back is to us. It is dark brown with a bald red head and neck. It is a turkey vulture. A green tree is the background.
