I’m so excited to read this book! I absolutely love anything about pirates & I have been dying to represent a book about a badass female pirate. If anyone has manuscripts in this vein, please send them to me. Adult or YA. Based on real figures is a huge plus!

I’m still actively looking for MG, YA or adult fiction with a female baddie main character. Think female pirate, shield maiden, valkyrie, warrior queen, mythological goddess, bandit or outlaw. #WritingCommunity

It was a pleasure to join the AALA panel “The Landscape and Legalities of Work-for-Hire.” We covered everything from ghostwriting & developmental editing to IP, contracts & industry standards. As an agent, ghostwriter & member of the AALA Copyright Committee, I was glad to help guide the convo!

Looking for fiction audiobook recommendations that are light, fun & uplifting. I’ve been reading heavier nonfiction (just finished Nobody’s Girl by Virginia Giuffre, The Book of Murder by Matt Murphy, & Chasing Evil by Robert Hilliard) & would love something more escapist. No romance. Suggestions?

There’s nothing worse than a bad audiobook narrator for a book you were excited about. Sometimes I just can’t power through—I have to turn it off and buy the print copy. A bad narrator can ruin a great book.

Authors, what this so-called agent is doing is cruel. They are mocking & exploiting writers. No author should be afraid that an agent is going to steal or expose their ideas. l’m taking a stand. I will not consider representing anyone who follows this account @un-manuscripts.bsky.social

Kelly Thomas @kellythomaslit.bsky.social · 23/04/2025

This person is a disgrace to all agents & the publishing industry. This is unethical & cruel. It goes against the AALA’s cannon of ethics. This “agent” needs to be terminated, fired & blacklisted. I won’t consider authors following this account @un-manuscripts.bsky.social @aalitagents.bsky.social

Someone needs to tell Kanye that book titles do not fall under copyright law, neither do general concept for a book. You can’t trademark a book title. I hope someone steals his idea and his title. ps://www.tmz.com/2025/02/05/kanye-west-bianca-censori-book-trademark-wife-by-husband/

I wish publishers did a better job vetting third-party proofreaders for their manuscripts. I can’t tell you how many grammatical errors I see in books. Typos are one thing, but grammatical errors should not be happening as much or as often as they do in commercial books.

The control & censorship of the news has begun. I fear they’ll come for publishing next, telling us what we can & can’t publish, limiting what we are allowed to discuss or post publicly. I hope that day never comes, but if it does, I will fight it with every breath in my body. I won’t be silent.

This is an aggressive act of blatant racism, sexism, antisemitism & homophobia. This is unconstitutional & infringes on 1st amendment rights. These days exist to celebrate marginalized communities & educate. The publishing community will continue to recognize & appreciate all of these days.

How many writers actively use Tik Tok to communicate with other writers or learn about publishing? Do you use Book Tok to find new books to read or to promote your books? I’m curious, will the writing community and avid readers miss Tik Tok if the ban goes into effect?
