and i get it, connecting systems that have private data of ppl is scary but it made actually serving those folks (this was for homeless people that had multiple contacts with the city) so much harder

nyc had a separate system for 3rd party social workers to use, that did not connect to the system that the cities social workers used, and it was someones job to migrate data between the two

maybe part of the problem is they keep offloading safety to external partners who keep doing things like "allowing the sandbox access to the open internet"
