Zan will be surprised, but he'll understand and respect Ash's reasoning. Ash loves Zan's rebellious nature so that's not gonna change. He just doesn't want to risk that for himself.

Ash is still developing in some ways, but in the end, he's going to settle on honor. As he finally starts excepting his role as king, he's going to find it important for him to give himself lines that he can't cross. It's going to be his way of keeping his power in check.

Zan is results. It's one of the conflicts he has in the navy. A lot of higher ups hate that Zan has no issue breaking rules to save people. It makes it worse to them that Zan is loved by people, so they can't even punish him without the public getting mad.

Steering away from Zan's crew this time. This is Seanan, a young drow wizard student that Ash befriends. I'm trying to get better at different body types so I tried giving him a little chub. Think it turned out ok. #booksky #characterart #characterdesign

A chubby, ashy drow with pale red hair. He's wearing a green knit poncho.

He wears it openly on his ring finger. He doesn't need to hide it and he's proud of being married to his love.

Zan isn't a jewelry guy. He feels like they get in the way. He still wears his wedding ring though.

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Ash wears a lot of jewelry but earrings are his favorite. He wear's a lot up his elven ears. He had to take off all his jewelry when laying low, but he bought cheep earrings just so he's ears wouldn't feel naked. He also has his wedding ring strung on a chain so he can keep it close but hidden.

At the end of the day, it’s a real disability like any other. It affects me every day. There are things I can’t do on my own, like reading legal documents. It’s not a minor quirk, and it’s not something I can get passed with hard work. I can find ways to help, but I can’t rewire my brain.

110

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

I’ve worked to be able to remember what separate letter are supposed to sound like and I can string those sounds together in an attempt to recreate the sounds I hear in the word. I can’t remember when words don’t follow the basic sound structure.

100

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

I think that’s why if you ever see my unedited spelling, you’ll see everything spelled phonetically. “Through” becomes “Throw,” “Wednesday” becomes “Wensday.”

110

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Than add words that brake the rules like “through.” I need to remember TH together makes a different sound, then I need to remember that for some reason those two vowels together don’t just sound like an O, and last and need to somehow get a W out of GH. My brain can’t make those connections.

110

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Let’s take a simple word, “dog.” I need to look at each letter separately. D O G. I need to actively remind myself what sound is associated with the D, than O, then G. Than I need to string them together to finally get “dog.”

It’s a lot more like trying to read a language you don’t know. You can see each individual letter, but you can’t make meaning out of it. People without dyslexia can look at a written word and automatically hold meaning to it. I can’t do that.

110

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

To start, dyslexia is not just mixing up b’s and d’s. It always pisses me off when people simplify it to that. Can that be a symptom, yes. Does every dyslexic person experience that, no. I’m severely dyslexic and I’ve never dealt with that. Dyslexia is a disconnect with written language.

110

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

It’s #worlddyslexiaday I feel like dyslexia is something constantly misrepresented in media, so as a dyslexic author, I’m hear to explain my experience and answer any questions. I’ll be at work so sorry if I’m late to replay.

Hole in the wall. Ash is used to fine dining so he'd wanna try food made with real heart and Zan knows through all his travels that those are the best places. I might also be bios on this one cuz as a big city kid, there's nothing better then the small, rundown Mexican hole in the wall.

170

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

When he finds out Zan is alive, he's rushing to get home. It's just when he still thinks Zan is dead that he can't face going home.

140

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Zan has basic plans but he doesn't have the luxury most of the time. His job is to quickly respond to emergency so he's more built to wing things. He has some basic plans for common situations but nothing solid.

150

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

If you asked Ash, he'd say he does. He doesn't. Everytime he makes a plan, he brakes it again. Part of it is him wanting to stop and help people, but there's a bigger part of him isn't ready to go home and face everything. That's why every plan to get back home doesn't work. He's self sabotaging.

I might be taking a bit of a writing break this week. I wanna focus on doing more drawing. Both for my book characters and for some ttrpg characters. I'll make sure to still write a bit.

Hosting parties is part of Ash's job. Well, it's the Master of Ceremony's job, but the prince is expected to be the face. He's main job is to be there and pretend he cares about listening to everyone's gosip. Zan's just waiting for his chance to be with Ash.

Ash used to laugh a lot. He will again when he's out of his depression. His is a light but genuine laugh. He's been raised in high society, so laughing to boisterously is uncouth. Zan doesn't laugh as often, but he has a hardy laugh. When he lets it out, he lets it out.

Ash isn't very patient. He's a prince, so he's not used to needing to wait. Zan is normal patient. You need to be when you're at sea for months at a time. But with Ash missing, his patients has hit it's limit.

Looks like people are interested so here's a sneak peak into what I've been working on. I made a little doll base that I can modify to make a bunch of things. I'm gonna give this one a mushroom top. I figured out how to give him a little belly and I'm really happy with how it looks. #crochet

Yeah, that's been my biggest hesitation, but I'll keep in mind to make sure to make some just for me. I've been trying to make my own pattern cuz I feel bad using someone elses for profit, so I might keep making the old patterns I bought for myself and I can sell the patterns I made myself.

My mom in law has been slowly talking me into selling my crochet work. It was something I just did to relax, but the extra money would help. I started this account to talk about my books, but would people be interested in seeing my crochet stuff? #crochet

Ash is a Boston cream donut cuz you might be surprised when you bite into him. Interpret that as you will. Zan is a spice cake. Somehow cozy and spicy at the same time.

Mostly non alcoholic ciders and sometimes teas.

010

Ash reads a lot of books, he star gazes, and he enjoys playing boardgames like chess and go. Zan likes going to art museums and he does some painting himself though he doesn't think he's very good. He also likes drinking with his crew even if he doesn't drink alcohol himself.

More character art today. Continuing with Zan's crew. This is Coral, Zan's lookout. In dnd terms, she's a tiefling halfling. I'm probably gonna go with nephilim to but I haven't settled on it yet. #booksky #characterart #characterdesign

He can cook but nothing fancy. He wouldn't be able to make a full pie, but he'll do more simple things like frying up an apple and drizzling honey over it.

041

Keegan Peter 🏳️‍⚧️ @keeganpeter.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Zan would love anything to do with the apples. Picking them, eating them, drinking cider made from them. Ash gets excited to see the harvest moon.

For my current book, I'm not sure if Zan is bi or pan. He's definitely one of them. In other stores I have Cyrus, Ollia, Brynn, and Aiden. In my western, Dahlia and Toby are a straight presenting bi couple. I probably have more but haven't figured out what all my side characters are yet.

Happy Bisexual Visibility Day! I often just say that I'm gay cuz it's easier and I'm married to a man, but I'm a bi married to a pan. We both still like women, but we're happy just the two of us.
