Something I'd never heard about before; the morning of 9/11, there was a huge aquatic evacuation effort by all available vessels, ferries, tugs, coast guard cutters, etc, to get people out of lower Manhattan by sea. You can't even call it a mini Dunkirk, it moved a lot more people a lot faster.
