Same but with spring re: suffering through a Phoenix summer instead of a Canadian winter. Fall is now my favorite season.

Highereedjobs.com is the best bet from my experience. Looks like slim pickings (and you have to filter through ALL the English jobs) but I see a few open positions on there right now (couple of fictions, 1 poetry, 1 nonfiction).

It would feel like a parody even if it’s not. But that’s our timeline, a deeply serious parody of itself.

ABBA is a get up and move your body kind of music, that Allman Brothers song is a sink into a deep high armed chair with a glass of cognac kind of music.

Hats go back to about 3500 BCE or so. Mostly yes they were worn for protection and not really for fashion for a lot of people (peasants working in fields, travelers for warmth or shade). But not every culture was big into “hats,” (or head coverings).

Biased research question that will taint data collection. No instructor teaching research methods would let their student get away with that framing.

I think it’s also important we don’t conflate something like text-to-speech or other adaptive programs that might use machine learning with a general purpose LLM.

They don’t have to be staffed by either of those categories when you’ve got full-time NTT lines sitting there that could be funded.

Emails from the principal, athletics director, clubs, PTO, and then there’s Class Dojo and Infinite campus. And your kid got a point. Find out why! And there’s an info session about a field trip and here are 10,000 requests for supplies and fundraising emails. So basically it’s the same.

This take seems wrong for a lot of reasons. The first: this started happening in the 1980s, at least 15 years before e-commerce took off, I coincidentally right around the time wages started stagnating and the wealth gap really started widening.

I’m fine with it as a quirk of the game. The unknown of when your team will be out of chances or how long your team has to suffer and hold on before the final whistle blows is both the most infuriating and most beautiful part of playing and watching the sport. youtu.be/cvGfV6qCiOI?...

Yes but the time doesn’t stop when the ball goes out of bounds or when a team scores. It keeps running. Stoppage is for issuing cards, player injuries, players/coaches arguing etc. It’s up to the ref. Now the ref’s watch can be connected to the game clock we see on TV maybe?

When he says it’ll make moviemaking easier what he means is it’ll be easier to shove even more needless fake ships in the backgrounds of his shots without paying animators to do it.

Pretty sure it was Dragonlance (bought in a basement bookshop In Harper’s Ferry while being forced to hike the C&O canal against my will) to Pillars of the Earth (my dad was a huge Ken Follett fan) to It (also my dad—huge King fan) for me. The Stand was two years later.

Canada has only made two World Cups and has never made it out of the group stage so I say they acquitted themselves very well this time around, and did it largely with their most dynamic player on the bench (Alphonso Davies).

Go German: Bosch. I have an old GE that still does a good job, for whatever it’s worth. I do have to hit the start button three times to lock in the settings, which is annoying (and the setting buttons are on the top of the door not on the front (also annoying). But otherwise it works.
