Apparently forgot to upload this one, which I painted while on vacation in Arkansas back in April. We visited the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks one morning; small, but enchanting little garden full of birdsong. I painted this later in the day from memory.

A loose, impressionistic painting of purple flowers with simple, teardrop-shaped blooms inspired by the false indigo. Tiny pale swatches of sky blue, yellow-green, and pink are visible in the gaps between the flowers and their leaves. Tree leaves drape downward towards the flowers; it’s difficult to tell where one plant begins and the other ends–dancing leaves and petals almost seem to sway in an invisible breeze.

The 1st drawing is the 1st piece of art I made in 2020, actually in January of that year. My Master's classes had shifted to online-only, we were isolating, I hadn't made much of anything for the previous three...five years. Had been deeply depressed, started to see some light, then COVID hit (1/2)

For #scape day, how about a few landscape sketches?⛰️

A rough color sketch of the rocky Oregon coastline on an overcast day. The coast line is drawn in rough strokes of deep, dark browns with rosy-ish brown highlights and frames the bottom and right sides of the image. A few shallow pools of dark slate seawater have collected between the rocks on the bottom edge of the image. The ocean dominates the rest of the composition, rendered in strokes of slate blue, gray and white. On the horizon, a thin, steep peninsula juts out onto the water, with scattered evergreen trees and a cluster of chalk-white buildings hinted at with a few spare marks. The thin sliver of sky that is visible is a slightly bluer hue while the ocean is slightly greener.

A vivid, roughly painted study of red rock formations in the Garden of the Gods in Colorado. The rusty reds and pale pinks of the rock formations are set against a bright blue, clear sky with one tiny cloud wisp in the distance. A cluster of evergreen trees are nestled between the rock formations.

I've been sitting on this for a little bit; hadn't done a self-portrait in eons, but I'm pretty happy with how this came out! All the plants I chose to depict are symbolic for me, my family ties, and my personal growth.🌺

showing off pics of my orchids blooming this spring to anyone I can. yes i give them praise along with their water + also when they're just doing a good job in-between waterings.

For #BlueSkyArtShow - theme: #Sunlight. For someone who loves natural light as much as I do, I don't seem to paint with it as a source that often. Apparently I need to work on that this year!
