U ever used .NET tho? 😛 Maybe it would be smoother but I wouldn’t wish pain of .NET to worst enemy

It’s good for type of problems classical ML classifiers are, but you don’t need to train/FT and host your own model

It’s general purpose classifier

I think the only thing stopping me from using iPad as main travel-conference machine is lack of support for custom fonts in keynote. And well, worry about projector compatibility

Is the “fight” today the same as it was in 19th century? Obviously not. But the common theme is the same. So I wouldn’t say this conflict was somehow created on social media. It’s been there from the start of modern politics.

… and so many other historical events where liberals always feared the masses of worker class and focused on economics prosperity of “new” upper class they created (and sometimes middle class happy with the status quo, just under new management)

I just see… shadows? Historical rhymes? … for moments like 1792 and fights against Sans-Culottes, hijacking 1830 July revolution, June Days in 1848, betrayal of Paris Commune, like whole 1905, half of Mexican revolution, Barcelona 1937…

But when I look outside of the social media bubble and see how liberal parties like US Dems (or Polish KO) tries to guilt left wing to vote on them and then do none of the left wing policies after they win elections?

Ok, so instead of another snarky take I’ve written something way too long, sorry! Great question, and TBF I don’t think I have good answer to it. Sure languages and terms evolves, and social media definitely wraps meaning of a lot of things.

We have our dogfooding instance that is accessible from public internet so I don’t need tailscale ;-) But it should work, we don’t do anything fancy - it’s just normal web api + websockets for realtime stuff.

High thinking + fast mode seems like a sweet spot for me

Krzysztof Cieslak @kcieslak.io · 08/09/2026
I’m not surprised that all we see are just silly demos - coming up with unique new ideas is hard and most developers are not really great at it. 🤷 Also innovation takes time, just because we’ve got new model like 5 days ago doesn’t mean everyone already had all the good ideas

iPad + Magic Keyboard + ssh is kinda good dev setup nowadays. I’m just sitting at cafe, switching between 5 different ssh sessions and managing agents 😂

Documentation is new code, not just side artefact as in the old times. No surprises that there’s now more of it TBF. What we need is better tools for managing, reasoning about, auditing and reviewing docs.

Ultrafast is “only” like 10x faster, as far as I know. I’d love to see even order of magnitude faster than that. And yeah I should ask around for access 🤔

Krzysztof Cieslak @kcieslak.io · 08/09/2026
Ofc, labs will never go for it - current AI race reminds me early digital camera competition. Number of megapixels is most important! Even if it actually doesn't bring quality up, degrades low light performance, etc So instead of getting faster models we will get more benchmark-maxxing

Krzysztof Cieslak @kcieslak.io · 08/09/2026
Astra is great. Sol was great. Whatever was before was great. The real breakthrough would Astra (or even Sol) quality model that's 100x faster than current models. It would open completely new user experiences, and handle completely new use cases.

Computer use is architecturally terrifying and is disgusting way of using agents. But it just shows how bad were foundations we've been building software on for all those years - lack of compossibility, programmable APIs and walled gardens just came back to hunt us.

Krzysztof Cieslak @kcieslak.io · 06/09/2026
I’d be more worried about any software whose team is not using AI nowadays*. It would suggest level of… closed-mindedness that doesn’t leads to good end-user software * yes, there are some counter-examples, but 99,99% of software doesn’t control nuclear reactors or planes or medical equipment.

I find this reporting absolutely shocking - finance.yahoo.com/technology/a... Not the $28k value, this one seems OK. The shocking part is this: > Among roughly 350 employees who completed the tracker, median AI spending was about $300 in the same 28 days.

Companies have spent years urging workers to use AI more frequently, only to run into the financial consequences.

FWIW, I can imagine 4k per day... I sometimes have >1k per feature sessions and if I *really* tried I probably could run couple of those in parallel (on different projects). But would that make me productive? Probably not.
