I have been working in CRM for 19 years. The data show that the vast majority of federal projects proceed through the Section 106 process quickly & without issue. For 60 years the process has been bringing people together to find creative ways to protect and preserve our important resources.

The proposal federal budget seeks to eliminate the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), which would 1) decimate the statutory work of states, tribes, and stakeholders and remove our input from federal decision making; 2) slow or halt infrastructure projects and historic tax credit rehabilitation projects- discouraging private investment and hampering economic growth; 3) the proposed budget falsely claims HPF funding is ‘duplicative’ and that funded projects are not nationally significant; 4) the proposal fails to acknowledge the federal government’s trust and fiduciary responsibility to Tribes; and 4) the proposal puts our historic properties at risk.
