Sept 21 - Feast of Apostle Matthew If "Your friends describe you" is true, then Jesus was doing a very bad job. He hung out with social outcasts and he even called one of them to follow him (Mt 9:9-13). But Jesus makes it a teaching moment: "I desire mercy, not sacrifice." May we learn the lesson.

I am amazed at the People who Complain about the condition of their roads, lack of police, struggling schools But say ‘don’t raise my taxes’ . Is there that much lack of understanding of how these public services are Paid for? We need smart people with best interest of the public to be in office.

Aug 10 Scripture St. Lawrence gave himself generously to the poor. Drawing examples from farming, scripture (2 Cor 9:6-10; Jn 12:24-26) teaches us that our lives are not meant for self glory and preservation. Rather, life is to be spent for the glory of God & service of humanity. Jesus taught us so.

Aug 3 Scripture The disciples cried out in fear the first time (Mt 14:26) and then Peter cried out in fear a second time (30). Often, fear can cripple our lives. The key to not let fear dominate us is to keep our eyes on the Lord and confess, "Truly, you are the son of God" (33).
