Helpful analysis but lacks a key element: other instances of US governments engaged in this (fundamentally authoritarian) project. E.g. Chicago's infrastructure thwarting understanding of and responses to police violence. Journalist Jaime Kalven called it a "regime of not-knowing" 2 decades ago.

It's disgraceful enough of Donald Trump to skip the 9/11 Memorial in New York City, but to go golfing in Ireland instead—just to promote one of his properties—shows Trump's contempt not just for this solemn anniversary, but also for decency itself.

This is spectacular, folks. We live in a moment in American history when the president and his administration are so racist and dumb that a toy company has to put out a statement saying: "OUR GIANT ROBOT THAT TURNS INTO A TRUCK DENOUNCES RACISM AND HAS NO CONNECTION TO THE CURRENT PRESIDENT."

Wise words: "focus not on what we need to preserve but on what we need to change and what we need to create: a democratic system that is more representative and more responsive to the American people — not just those at the top, but more importantly, those in the middle and those at the bottom.”

I might be in denial that fall is arriving, but these beautiful #leaves on today's hike in #Harriman know what's up. Hope you get out and enjoy the transition.
An oblong leaf with deep saturated red colors as well as irregular splotches of green, yellow, and brown. A chubby maple leaf that's mostly red in the center but mostly apple green toward the outer portions and veins, with tiny red areas at some of the jagged tips. A maple leaf with mostly mixed red and orange coloring, with small amount of yellow and one tip still green.

Yes. Once you start seeing this (Institution X probably wanted do this conservative thing anyway but now can blame it on Trump), it's everywhere. It's not capitulation, it's agreement. "We can stop doing this thing we started doing from 2014-2020 because of woke/progressive/anti-racist pressure."

Magnificent! I just keep thinking about how mesmerizing this would be to a viewer of its era, who might never have seen a lily, or only had glimpses of them when in season, and had no way to take or keep a photograph of them. The magic of all that comes through in Fanin-Latour's painting.

I understand the relevance of having Roy Cooper on, but I don't agree with the pod's choice to allow (/record/transmit to listeners) any candidate soliciting donations and hawking campaign talking points against an opponent. It'd be better to adopt policies akin to those of more regulated media.

Baby's first paintings! I never "got" painting, especially #watercolor in grade school. Since then, brushes have been for painting apartments or egg washing baked goods. With a lesson and some YouTubes, I've found it a fun and interesting challenge that I hope to continue. #Beginner #BotanicalArt

May your morning be as satisfying as this commuter's. Looks like he's living his best life with an e-bike, beating the subway without breaking a sweat.
A brief video, taken from inside the subway, of a person biking across the East River on the Manhattan bridge. He's dressed for summer office work - white short sleeve button up, a tie, dark slacks. There's light clouds and it's warm but not hot, and the biker looks like he's easily keeping up with the train.
