If Simon hadn’t been so desperate already, Hector really would bite him open, drink him half-dry and make him woozy and pliant. But Simon’s saucer-wide pupils and laser focus on the red pooling on Hector’s chin and seeping into his beard belie his composure. It’s not like Hector’s ever been turned—no doubt something out there could mold a vampire into something else, though he’d rather not dwell on the possibility—but he’s got the gist over the years, how it eats and eats and eats at someone if they don’t get what they need. Born vampires have it bad enough already; what exquisite agony something even worse must be, the basest parts of oneself parched and undeniable.

Prooooobably Kingdom Hearts I think. Since that was my gateway into final fantasy and then rpgs. Which probably also led into my enjoyment of picking through parts of games to decipher or predict things, which is kinda funny considering.U know. Kingdom Hearts' reputation for being incomprehensible.

The fact that this is fun and scalable regardless of group size is really its big selling factor for me. I had as much fun with like three people getting lost as I did when the whole squad is together asking if one hundred ant sized horses or one horse sized ant is worse while solving puzzles

For 30 days, Lanercost was swallowed by darkness. Ferris Gray watched the sky from his tower the same as he always had, and tried to ignore the howling coming from the floor below. He had seen the darkness now. It fell from the sky and calamity came with it, a natural hell to its new environment. Whether or not it wanted to cause all this death, pain, destruction, it had. And no one else knew.

Fer wasn’t the heroic type. He didn’t have a weapon or the strength to fight. But he could have told the ones who did. He could have let them try to kill it.

He waited for the sounds at the first floor of his little observatory to stop. With shaking legs he dropped down from the staircase he’d broken in the first week of the darkness. No tools, no instruments, no protection but for his plan.

For 30 days, Lanercost was swallowed by darkness. And then, as suddenly as it began, it stopped. Gray had never been well-liked in town. His shirts were a little too expensive, he spent too much time looking at the sky, he never adjusted to their way of living. But after the darkness, their distaste tinged with fear. Dark shapes shifted behind his eyes as he spoke to them. His shadow twisted unnaturally whenever he helped with the rebuilding efforts. And worst of all, his attitude never changed. He was the same man he’d always been, and along with everyone else in Lanercost, he refused to acknowledge the new passenger inside of him.
