Tomorrow my subscribers get the second-to-last chapter of "Darcy Among the Fae." Writing that story was truly a wild ride, traumatizing Darcy in ways I have never traumatized him before. Check it out. patreon.com/kaurifish 💙📚

I was merely looking for a corrupt politician when I found John Scott, 1st Earl Eldon. But I found so much more. www.historyhome.co.uk/people/eldon... A true cesspit of a human being. I'm going to do terrible things to him in book 3 of Under a Cloak of Night, and I don't feel bad about any of it.

Monstrum just did a lovely episode on the Hammersmith ghost that has me thinking about ghosts in Regency London. But I need to be thinking about vampires, damnit... 💙📚

Okay, it may seem counterintuitive, but setting an exclusion zone for the vac bot around the litter box is actually a really good idea. On a related note, the vac bot cannot see cat doots on a black cat litter walk-off mat.

Watched part of the "AI explains why AI is good" vid. Interesting that avatar took some time off from making faux Viking metal videos for that PSA. And fascinating that "the sum total of human knowledge" doesn't include that humans can't walk straight across the slope of a river valley.

I hope that readers aren't relying on "this isn't AI" disclaimers on works. Someone unethical enough to publish AI gen work won't scruple to lie on a disclaimer, too. It's our judgment vs the plagiarism machine. 💙📚

Seeing as most of my followers here are writers, let me direct you to a valuable resource: The FAQ for r/selfpublishing has excellent resources, including an extensive checklist for everything one might possibly want to do starting before you write your book. I highly recommend reviewing it. 💙📚

Starting to write a book is kind of like starting a fire. You start by gathering tinder and kindling, but it's not til you bring it together, light the spark and breathe into it that it comes to life. Got the flame going yesterday on book three of the Regency vampire series. Feels good. 💙📚

Dealing with my cat's ear infection has revealed weirdness about cat ears that I never dreamed possible. Also, my cat has become much more talkative since we got it cleared up. Makes sense, as each time I had an ear infection, my voice sounded weird to me.

One thing I have to give to Reddit: No matter how forthright one is in a mea culpa, some people there will still take the opportunity to drag you. You cannot convince me that such folks, walking down the street and encountering a dog hit by a car, would not kick the dog.

Doing research into the decline of the Ottoman Empire (yes, it's necessary for my upcoming Regency vampire novel) really makes you appreciate how stable empires aren't. 💙📚

The spicy things one learns when researching English history: the man who was the Archbishop of Canterbury during the Regency had eloped - with his cousin. 😳 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles... 💙📚 Remains to be seen if this makes him more likely to take the threat of vampires seriously...

I have mixed feelings about the book destruction scandal. If books had to be shredded to be fed into Project Gutenberg, I'd be cheerleading the effort. But to feed the endless gullet of AI training sets? Grrr... 💙📚

If you haven't yet checked to see if your vet clinic has been acquired by private equity, I suggest you do so ASAP. We're starting month two of fighting a 10-year long ear infection that our previous vet missed. Turns out they had been acquired by PE back in '19. 😿

I always write stories in order. Little things affect feelings which means the action comes out just a little differently than it would have if I'd written chapter 3 before chapter 2. 💙📚

Well darn it, the vet said the last two weeks of twice-daily antibiotic goo only knocked down 80% of kitty's ear infection. So now we're in for another two weeks of treatment. I can tell it's working because she's noticing the fireworks. All this decade I just thought she was chill...

Someone on the JAFF subreddit was asking for Darcy yearning-heavy stories. I thought over my catalogue, trying to think of a good one to rec. Realized they are all extremely yearnful. Replied, "If I ever write a story where Darcy's yearning isn't visible from orbit, don't bother checking

I've been spending a couple days resisting the urge to respond to the comments about the heat wave in Britain, ex. "Why don't they just buy ACs?" But when my (HVAC engineer husband) asked, I had to reply. I visited England. Their windows are not like ours. Our window rattlers aren't going to fit.

Finally started watching S2 of Interview with the Vampire (mostly because Jennifer Ehle is going to play Gabrielle). My husband refuses because there was too much whining in S1. Was his complaint about the book, too. And he's not wrong.

A linen shirt that I'd bought back in the dim mists of history (aka high school) and had dyed, worn, repaired, etc. finally bit the dust beyond hope of retrieval. I cut it up into handkerchiefs, and they're nearly indecently soft. Also, I'm starting a story with fairies in it. 💙📚 #prideandprejudice

Having an argument with a proud LLM user over on r/fanfiction, explaining why he's cheating himself by using it to produce stories. I'm afraid, given his responses, that the rot had already set in. A damn tragedy.

Made blueberry muffins. Had finally gotten to TJs to get the dried (really, candied) blueberries that give that perfect texture and contrast. Reminded me that the first thing I ever successfully baked was blueberry muffins - from Jiff mix.

Interesting object lesson in authenticity. Husband showed me some videos by a new musician he liked. Her videos were obviously AI enhanced, but when I tried to find out more about the band, I ran into a blank wall. Now questioning if this person exists at all. If you're familiar with Eldruna LMK.
