While I was looking through this map. I noticed that the combine elevator that you eventually reach after defeating the Reviver is controlled by func_tracktrain. This isn't exactly interesting, however this elevator is special since Valve forgot to enable "No User Control" in the spawn flags.

probably because if the elements arent properly synergised, the break of immersion to people is painful and makes it unappealing (however do not confuse synergy with 'quality' - people think that more polys/higher resolution means better. not the case.)

This is a great thread @hillsguy.bsky.social, I'll add a bit more context here for anyone interested. Yes there's no fancy sim - it just uses a water interaction buffer as a target for the particle system rendering, so we could use the power of particle system we already have.
