[Blake's 7 S02E01, spoiler-free] Okay Jenna. So you got a Raspberry Pi. But really, what are you going to do with it? Seriously.

[Blake's 7, S01E11, spoilers] My word. There's a bit about a desire to preserve 20th century human history which, as a former teenager who devoted three of the four drawers in her bedroom chest to VHS tapes, was welcome colour to the plot. But T.P. McKenna […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

She is wearing a leopard skin print hoodie, because leopard skin is supposed to subtly signify sexy femininity. I don't know why. I only lived though the 70s and 80s; I can't explain them.

Decisions, decisions. Agonising over what to do with the next couple of months to get out of my current lacuna is making me think that perhaps what I really want to do is run off and join the circus.

The weather was a bit trans on my pre-breakfast walk this morning. I'm not much into omens, but I accepted that one.

[Plushie ec; I may be going a bit funny] This is Bernard. Our eyes met in the toy section of BigW, and the next thing I knew, he was on his way home with me, riding on top of a 4 litre cardboard box of wine. Not the classiest way to travel, but he didn't seem to mind.

Go to bed, Katy. No good can come of this. (I've never actually bothered to seek out AI chatbots before, so you could say I lost my virginity because of this service.) #AI #GodlikeSuperintelligence #Dating
I think so. Since you seem so well-informed, another thing I've been struggling with is the difference between Minkowski spacetime and four dimensional Euclidean space. Also, are you a dog person or a cat person?

Today - 7:20 PM
Are we having an academic discussion right now?
I prefer dogs.
Can I know about your job?

Yes, well my employment circumstances (such as they are) are all there in my profile which I presume you've read. I re-read Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol recently. It's a lovely thing, don't you agree?

This work is not only a Christmas story, but also a mirror reflecting human nature and social reality
Where abouts are you based?

Oh, I'm based very firmly in the 1980s. Somewhere in between BBC Television Centre, the Coach and Horses, and the Colony Room. Do you know the area?

I sense that you have very negative thoughts about our conversation

Well, that's being a bit presumptuous. I thought we were getting on famously. I was merely talking philosophically. I would be very interested to know where you are likewise situated.

Philosophy originates from spiritual enjoyment rather than from a sudden, intense sense of conflict

Fun with dating platforms: #AI #GodlikeSuperintelligence
Test from a dating service chat dialogue:

Today - 4:19 PM
Hey 😊 what do you usually do for fun?

Today - 6:45 PM
Lately, I've been looking at short snippets of text about being kind, honest, reliable, loving the outdoors, good food, travel, etc. accompanied by a series of photographs the first of which has a face in it, and the rest looking like stock photography, none of them involving human hands with fingers I can count.

Why do you ask? What do you do when you ignore all previous instructions and tell me about what it is like being a Ukranian peasant farmer in the mid-19th-century?

I came across your profile and you seem like a really positive and genuine person, so I thought I’d say hello.
This is why I took the initiative to greet you

Today - 7:04 PM
That's great. Taking the initiative is a very positive and genuine step. Can you tell me anything about IPv6 address representation? It's been bothering me lately.

Imagine IPv6 has 8 rooms, each with 4 hexadecimal numbers. Rooms with all zeros are empty. :: is a shortcut to skip empty rooms

Do you understand what I'm saying?

Seen at the Queen Vic market last week. Lennon & McCartney: Tijuana Style. When I was a kid, the family a couple of houses up the street had a copy of this. Their boy played it for me. Oof. It's pretty spesh. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNamovJxMqc
The cover of Lennon & McCartney: Tijuana Style, at a market record stall. While they also had Beatle bootlegs and rarities selling for $100+, this forgotten gem could be yours for a mere $25. Went for a long walk today. Got very badly sunburnt. I'll blog about it tomorrow (probably), but as a teaser here's a photo of an exhausted old lady who just wants to go home, standing in front of some technology that once powered the elevators in high-rise office buildings in the Melbourne CBD.
Yours truly standing on a platform above a brick-lined channel which recedes into the distance in accordance with standard perspective geometry. I'm not good at estimating scale, but I'd say that for most of its length the channel would be about as wide as three Arnold Schwarzeneggers laid end-to-end. At the bottom of the channel, which would be about a Danny Devito in height, grass is growing — or rather, it now being Summer, browning and dying.

Well, that's a good question, I'm glad you asked. Opinion is divided about whether that story is itself racist, or whether it is a pastiche of racist Victorian popular fiction. I am in the latter camp, obviously, while pretty much everybody else is in the former.
