It is the current home for Jackie & Shadow, a local bald eagle pair. ℹWhat's happening at the nest: Egg watch is here! During this time, all nesting behaviors are usually on the increase: nest attendance, matings and pancaking. We hope you enjoy this view into the everyday life of wild bald eagles & the nature that surrounds them while keeping our standards of behavior in mind. 1. We Are Here For The Eagles Do your best to stay on topic of the Big Bear Eagle family & the surrounding ecosystem. For daily info about nest events, regularly check the Live Recap. When chat is slow, it may be acceptable to briefly share big news from other wildlife cameras; however, we do not encourage specific discussions or questions related to other wildlife projects because we do not have accurate & up-to-date information. 2. Give Peace A Chance Folks of all ages and backgrounds watch the cam. Use polite, kind & sensitive language appropriate for all audiences. Agree to disagree respectfully and steer clear of prolonged arguments. If you see an inappropriate comment, please do not engage; let the moderator handle the situation. 3. The Eagles’ Well-being Is Our Priority Be respectful & considerate to eagles* & nature. The exact location of the nest, local landmarks, & camera placement are not disclosed to protect the eagles. We acknowledge that this information is not top secret & may be known to some individuals. However, oversharing sadly had tragic outcomes at various nests across the country. We certainly do not want it to happen here. 4. Education & Safety For All This is a public, family-friendly platform. We care about everyone’s safety. Please avoid the following content: controversial (politics, religion, sports & TV shows), adult (sexual topics, substances), personal subjects (locations, health issues etc.). 5. Roll Calls - What Are They? Roll Call is when someone solicits responses from multiple chatters (eg. where is everyone from, multiple tagged greetings etc.). It results in numerous responses & can fill the chat quickly with off-topic. This practice is strictly discouraged in our fast moving chat. 6. Focus On Facts, Not Speculations We all have a responsibility to keep the chat information factual & maintain a positive educational environment. Please do not generate engagement from drama, panic language, negative predictions or other triggers. 7. English Is A Universal Language We use English in chat, as a single language helps our global community to understand each other. If needed, please use Google translate: https://bit.ly/3tJx2bf 8. Spamming & Repetitions Face Deletion Do not overuse caps & emojis (the limit is 4). Do not repeat statements. Conversely, repeating unaddressed questions is appropriate & encouraged. We advise utilizing this emoji ❓ to make your question more visible in chat. 9. FOBBV - Non-Profit Since 2001 Our non-profit channel is free of charge & free of advertisements. Please refrain from promotion of unrelated sites, businesses, commercial platforms, or any form of solicitation. 10. Respect Our Volunteers Our chat is managed by an amazing & generous team of volunteers who wear many hats & are engaged in many tasks around the clock, including nest monitoring & record keeping. Although we read all chat messages, we may not be able to respond to all personally when chat volume is extremely high. To help us provide the best service possible, please email your questions, concerns, & suggestions at fobbvchat(at)gmail.com. *Bald Eagles are protected by the Bald Eagle & Golden Eagle Protection Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Lacey Act & by the California Endangered Species Act.
