The Colorado law for plug-in solar goes into effect on January 1, 2027. It has a provision that means HOAs cannot stop you from getting plugin solar. :) Just like HOAs cannot stop you from xeriscaping.

Oh, this is really exciting! app.publicnewsservice.org/story/helpin... If you want a plug-in system over 391 watts, you will have to do some (potentially expensive) electrical upgrades, but the <391 watt systems can just plug into normal outlets. #Colorado

Ah yes, we will make elections more secure by having people write the *checks paper* last four digits of their social security number on *checks paper again* the outside of their mail in ballot envelopes Nothing could possibly go wrong.

Many great pieces on Dolly Parton this week, but @rahawahaile.bsky.social's in Scratch is by far my favorite. Just a jaw-dropping piece of beautiful writing. www.talkscratch.com/dolly-parton...
But this is the point I’m making, in this publication about how writers survive—I don’t think one can ever stop being themselves. For those of us not born to wealth, conviction is our greatest fortune. Dolly never squandered hers. Her values were clear: Pay your union dues, stand with labor, love the castaways, put money directly in people’s pockets. Make great art (and own your work). Share books freely. Uplift the land as the land has lifted and lifted you. Higher still, even. And help the people climb.

Though if you'd like to see a lot of Nazis get murdered by an extremely stoic Finnish man, you still cannot beat Sisu. (In Sisu:R2R he's killing his way through a shitload of Soviet soldiers because Finland understandably has some *feelings* about the USSR.)

If you're looking for a bananapants unhinged action movie, Sisu: Road to Revenge is on Netflix now. It's the sequel to Sisu (free on Tubi) but I honestly don't think you need to have seen the first to enjoy it. Sisu:R2R looked at how grounded Sisu was and went nah, we're going big with this one.

The racist freakout over Nolan's Odyssey is same old same old, but it still bears repeating that "the Greeks were white" from Americans would come as a real surprising statement to, for example, labor organizer Louis Tikas and his fellow Greeks who died in the Ludlow Massacre in 1914.
