I trailed my hands up his muscular chest, locking eyes with him in what I hoped was an enticing gaze. “What do you want me to do?”
His slow, predatory smile sent a shiver down my spine. “I want you to lose your mind so completely, you’re no longer aware of the sounds coming out of your mouth.”
I swallowed. That was absolutely not what I’d expected him to say.
Sliding my hands around his neck, I rose onto my toes, closing in on his mouth, but he dodged past my face, pressing his lips against my neck instead. My mind tangled with incoherent thoughts as his calloused hands stroked down my back to my hips. He tugged at my dress, but my belt held it in place. His fingers grazed my stomach and found the buckle, undoing it. With a thud, it fell to the floor.
My knife! Now it was out of reach. Panic surged hot and cold through my veins. He was undressing me. By the spirits, he was undressing me! Why wouldn’t he kiss me? Wasn’t that how these things were supposed to start? The men I’d been with before had always kissed me as soon as we’d slipped away to be alone.
His lips brushed my neck, sending shivers tingling down my spine. He tugged at my dress again, and my mind blanked as I raised my arms, allowing him to pull it over my head.
