Overhearing two emeritus professors saying absolutely grim stuff about their HR department... saying they shouldn't need to do things like renew their access (they should) for people who are on double their money (they aren't)

The book is about playbills! yay! And even better, it's one of TWO books on playbills coming out in the series over the next couple years so playbills fans gonna be eating good

Feeling very sad today about having got nowhere post-PhD. Not a single research assistantship/fellowship/award/literally nothing! in 3 years! I have a book contract which is pretty cool though (more on that soon)

This report is crucially important. Our University serves a whole region, with a widening participation agenda. We will now be a cold spot for Humanities, as our University has removed the opportunity for local students from WP backgrounds to study well-established and employable subjects.

I was taught by colleagues across English Language, Literature, and Creative Writing throughout my undergraduate degree. I would not be where I am without them. I would not be WHO I am without the Humanities. Distraught. Ready to fight.

my main requirement is I want it to be in clean markdown that is readable in something as simple as notepad - I'm over storing reading notes in proprietary formats

finally migrating away from evernote (or rather my old evernote backup - cancelled my sub a long time ago). stuck between #obsidian and #logseq, need to use both for a bit I think but interested to hear opinions! both have features needed so more about stability/general opinions

To reduce Austen’s writing to a set of aesthetics and tropes, punctuated by the clanging thud of exposition, is surely its own kind of disservice.

It's also briefly mentioned in The Printer's Grammar as being something common to Dutch printers. Silver type was apparently thought of being much neater for printing
