Our response to the Curriculum and Assessment Review. ⬇️
There are many positive signs from today’s Curriculum Review that data on SEND and the real life experiences of children and young people is being seriously considered.

We welcome the recommendation that more guidance be developed to help teachers adapt the way they teach children with SEND, and that the need for adaptations in early years education and strengthening transitions between primary and secondary is recognised. We know from thousands of children we work with at Kids that support is crucial at transition stages to avoid children hitting crisis.

Positive changes to post-16 education options should also benefit many young people with SEND. The Review is one of many essential levers that must dovetail with other changes - like forthcoming SEND reform plans - to deliver change and impact.

As these plans progress, Kids urges the Government to keep listening to young people themselves and to commit to the ongoing involvement of young people in shaping changes.
