So for my last outfit of @thehenryford.bsky.social's #FabricofAmerica exhibit, here is this 1947 evening dress by Sophie Gimbel. She ran Salon Moderne, an exclusive boutique in Saks Fifth Avenue. The same year as this dress, she became the first woman designer on the cover of Time magazine.

Known as Yokohama robes after the port from which they were shipped, this Japanese quilted and embroidered dressing gowns became popular in the second half of the c19th. This one dates to c1875. I would very much like to curl up into one today please and thank you @metmuseum.org #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Purple polka dots shimmy across the surface of this dress, the fabric all that was required to create a decorative dress. Devoid of embellishment other than lace collar and cuffs, it holds its own in lavender shaded splendour. Late #1840s, Brussels Museum of Fashion and Lace #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Lincoln premiered at the 50th New York Film Festival #OnThisDay in 2012. Joanna Johnston took inspiration from Elizabeth Keckley’s original designs for Mary Lincoln to create this blue striped silk gown with gold embroidered lace flounces that was worn by Sally Fields in the film. #film #costume

I think the other reply is absolutely right. Scheele’s green was a brighter more acid colour and this is much darker

Another designer featured was Halston, through this 1974 ultrasuede dress. Halston was a celebrity in the 1970s as he made minimalistic, practical, but chic outfits using exquisite fabrics. His ultrasuede dresses were incredibly popular. Utrasuede itself is an ultra-microfiber

Another American designer highlighted in the #FabricofAmerica exhibit was Geoffrey Beene with this 1985 jumpsuit. Beene turned to studying fashion after dropping out of medicine at Tulane. The consequence is his designs are catered to the body, like this form fitting design. He
