it's always felt bizarre to me that doctors and pharmacists all treat your name and birthdate like a password. those are two of the easiest things to know about someone

dolls to watch out for "Girl Research"

a comic. "Dolls to watch out for" titled "Girl Research". Harriet needs a little extra cash, so she signs up for a focus group... she thinks "I wish i hadnt said I was trans." Focus group leader says "Okay! How does this image make you feel? And don't lie, I'll know." It's a poster of a sexy dog girl. Harriet says "Dog girls are a little passe, aren't they? Sorry." Other focus group members are mad at her. Leader says "Actually, Harriet's assertion aligns with our product analysis." She turns to page to show a chart. "Dog girls have peaked. Bunny girls are big now. We're very bullish on mouse girls next quarter." Another member says "What about cat girls?" Leader says "Old money. No movement." Harriet says "What product are you people allegedly researching, anyway?" Leader says "You ever heard of Castration Movie?"

hello gamers! on Saturday, October 17th, to celebrate my birthday, I'll be hosting a night of GCTCG, my home-made science-fantasy trading card game of robots, demons, and lizards! it'll be at @boshis.place, featuring classic TCG goodness: rare drops, drafts, duels, and a tourney! see you there!

poster set with glowy CRT scanline effects, divided into four quarters, each its own color: tan, purple, green, and blue (clockwise). the text shifts color to match the quarter. the text reads:

"The Hidden Library & Dead Letters Present / SAM'S BIRTHDAY GCTCG DRAFTOURNAMENT / Sat. 10.17.26 / 5:00 p.m. doors / 5:30 p.m. tutorial / 8:00 p.m. tournament / boshi's place 1002 Metropolitan / $10 suggested donation. RSVP: forms.gle/MQXcR6wmVoZe7WRo8 / Ne plus ultra!"

it rules how bad this show was at first. episode 3 and 4 are both about contacting strange aliens who see tasha yar and are like "oh weird, you give your women jobs? why?"

I'd argue that it is at times "cinematic" (evoking cinema), if not "cinema" in itself — although even that I think is possible, as much as it is for, say, a thoughtfully directed concert film.

my perspective is definitely based on the AP I engage with, which is almost all heavily-edited and audio-only, and therefore doesn't have the same limits as some of the (livestreamed, video-based) most popular shows.

Kate Sanders @katekatydid.bsky.social · 14/10/2026

AP doesn't have to be edited linearly :) especially when it's audio-only! I've heard a podcast do almost exactly that (cross-cutting between two completely different scenes) (shout-out @funcityventures.bsky.social)

Kate Sanders @katekatydid.bsky.social · 14/10/2026

(that can happen in "theatrical" storytelling too but cinematic means you get to edit out any adjudication that is rendered extraneous or repetitive)

Kate Sanders @katekatydid.bsky.social · 14/10/2026

broadly speaking: lots of editing and lots of sound design. detailed soundscape, bespoke score etc. but also, cast members playing to the edit. you can feel the difference when, after the outcome of a roll gets adjudicated, players stop to narrate that outcome instead of moving on to the next thing.

Road Warriors is a game about playing fledgling stand up comedians on your first tour. The gigs are rough, the audiences are worse and your hit points are based in self esteem. Good Luck!

okay, got that out of my system and have since been trying to grapple with this horrific situation, and the even-more-horrific national conversation around it. i relate / agree with what P.E. Moskowitz wrote on the other site:

series of three tweets posted by P.E. Moslowitz @_pem_pem 3 hours ago

i went to hampshire college during the invention of woke 1. seeing the western ma lesbian bar drama is triggering lol. that shit ruins lives. like i know it's funny to make fun of them (cuz they're ridiculous) but also it's all really evil behavior that should be condemned.

the amount of people outcast, who've had friendships and communities and relationships and even lives ruined in the name of purity..it's a sickness on “the left" that must be dealt with before it spreads too far again because it's basically cointelpro level destructive.

i know it's fun to gawk at but the ridiculousness hides its insidiousness. a community space is fucked because people cannot stop self destructing. that, happening in virtually every organizing space, destroys movements. i am not conspiratorial but it does feel intentional often

my perspective on the wmass lesbian bar situation is that you probably shouldn't be laughing at it unless one of the co-founders was really shitty to you in college. anyway lmao

enjoyed this one a lot. i think you're right a lot more people would feel emboldened to try GMing if they knew that low-prep adjudicator style was an option (i was already having thoughts about that since playing at your table)

I know this is a subscription drive so maybe it'll come later, but do you have plans to work with retailers? If I told my local game store that I'd like them to carry your magazine, would that be helpful and/or possible?

120 0

Kate Sanders @katekatydid.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

I'm assuming the high cost is because it's being shipped from overseas. I'd also love to see cheaper options in the future; I'd love to subscribe but $38 total for a quarterly magazine is not in my budget.
