A delectable triangular piece of home made rhubarb pie. Sits on an elegant gold edged dessert plate, decorated with rhubarb-pink roses. The hand made pastry looks, and is, golden and flaky. The filling of rhubarb is a rosy hue of pink/red that matches the roses on the China dessert plate. Yum!!

Thought it would be fitting to end #ArtAdventCalendar this year with another miniature library. This is a magical little library in a tree case, and I hope to be able to make more like this in the new year! 🧶 Happy holidays all, and thank you for sharing so much amazing art this month!
This miniature library is in a case that features a tree on the front, allowing you to peek in to see its contents. The library is filled with tiny handmade books and scrolls, including a book of magic on the top shelf beside a star. Below you find a tiny potion bottle and a small piece of spinel sitting on a book. On the lower shelf there is a larger piece of apatite. Photo of the miniature library with the case opened. Last week before all hell broke loose, my sister and I did our annual gingerbread decorating extravaganza. It was a little smaller than usual. We only did a half batch because it’s a lot of cookies. Still, lots of fun and many of the usual characters are there.
A table full of decorated gingerbread cookies. There are about three dozen of them. Some are people shaped and include Spock, Santa, a guy with a broken leg, Plumber Butt, John Travolta from Saturday night, fever, and Groot. We have some cookies that have already got bites out of them and are bleeding. Roadkill is there. We also have ninja bread cookies and a couple of robots. There are gingerbread trees, candy, canes, reindeer, snowman, and an owl.

Lace #doily I knit in April 2019. Another presumed Niebling design. It appeared in a design leaflet published by MEZ with the unoriginal title of "Handarbeitsvorlage 7016" (Handwork pattern 7016) with no date or designer credit. Looks a bit like a snowflake to me ❄️ #ArtAdventCalendar #knitting
Knitted white cotton lace doily in a hexagonal shape. The center star-like motif consists of six inverted diamond-shaped leaves, and those same leaves are repeated again in the outer border in sets of three. Placed on a dark pink background cloth for the photo.

Day 11 #ArtAdventCalendar -2 page spread of my Illinois prairie nature journal, covering May 25-June 3, 2021. I tend to gravitate towards the colorful flowers, but I included the pale brown Alum root flower stalk amongst this rainbow of colors to remind myself that they're all important. #SciArt
2-page spread of watercolor and ink sketches interspersed with handwritten notes. Left page: May 31, 2021, 70 degrees, cloudy and breezy, IL Beach St Park Nature Preserve (Dune trail), saw the trifecta of puccoons- hairy, hoary and fringed! Also visited the prairie at Hosah Park- saw the 8-spotted forester moth and sketched the coreopsis. Just as we left IL beach, we saw the Indian Paintbrush and ended the day with a bald eagle flyover! Sketch has overlapping ink drawings with painted flowers-prairie phlox (pink), coreopsis (deep yellow- orange), lupine (blue-purple), the three puccoons (yellow, lemon yellow, yellow orange) and a blue-eyed grass. A black and white spotted moth with orange pantaloons is near the bottom.
Right page: flowers continue with scarlet Indian paintbrush, pale brown alum root with a damselfly on the stem, and 3 stalks of purple-blue spiderworts with leaves arching in many directions. A brown and yellow skipper is in the center. Notes: June 1, 2021, Schulenberg Prairie, 72, sunny and warm, saw black and tiger swallowtails, monarch, pearl crescents, Hobomark skipper, E.forktail damselflies ovipositing in Willowbrook creek, common green darner, and whitetails
June 3, 2021 75 degrees and warm, Springbrook Prairie, bullfrogs are croaking, red-wing blackbirds singing, B.impatiens on spiderwort, ponds and streams are very low- almost dry.
