I only follow & like friends & artists on IG; don't post. BUT for 2 weeks an AI-gen girl—made to look flesh & blood—keeps popping up to sit on my face, which (besides making me look over my shoulder to see if someone is behind me on the train during commute) has me wondering how tf this algo works.

Reading the transcript from a talk given by Ursula K. Le Guin in 2013 where she discusses how govn't & corporations are seeking to get rid of copyright. We've known it was coming, but didn't anticipate the vehicle. We can't really claim we thought we'd have more time to figure out our response.

Apologies in advance, but I can't afford to feel bad about it. It is time for the big push for my book KAIBYO THE SUPERNATURAL CATS OF JAPAN. Preorders this month will make or break not only the success of the book, but my future books with the publisher. Please buy link.amazon/B0d6PY7Gv

Even lawyers don't play that goofy game of lingo between civil & criminal cases out of court in my experience, but with the way things are going, I can understand how that seems like a free speech right we might lose. Ugh... Sincerely, I appreciate you.

I suppose liable is the word. I'll settle for the colloquial "guilty," but I reckon what'chur saying! I used to translate legal documents 😅

If this is about POTUS, then he's not just credibly accused; he was found guilty. Whatever, it just makes him look like more of an evil asshole.

You can tell I just had my health checkup because I'm out trying to get my 10k steps at 11pm while drinking a non-alcoholic chu-hai. I didn't see any mosquitoes, but my ankles certainly did. #健康診断

Reading Instagram posts about Tokyo hoping for a new stationery store or restaurant, and I come across: "Tucked secretly away on the 2nd floor." Not reading any more from that account. I waited 90 minutes ON A WEEKDAY to get into that curry restaurant. Nothing secret or tucked about it.

I've found crackling and rinds (pork crunch) in the past, but I don't think I've seen scratchings! Not that the other two are terribly common, but I've bumped into them.

I really like chicken hearts, but I don't think I've ever seen them deep-fried before! This is my local izakaya that we both usually get out of for less than ¥5000 incl. drinks. There are still awesome small restaurants around.

I've been a big fan of Corsair forever. They make great keyboards: good variety of switches, sizes, and a few baubles that end up being useful (physical volume control, button to lock commands so you don't accidentally alt+tab, etc.). I really like having a 10-key, but it's getting harder to find.

Yep! When I burn out, I read and draw. And I've never burned out on game design or art. I still enjoy the heck outta some Castlevania level layouts, even if I'm not feeling up for picking up the controller to tackle them atm.

Man, you would've loved TGS this year. I spent a lot of time in the hardware area, and there were a bunch of different train game controllers—and some interesting train games to go with them. I feel like that market has grown somehow (or is making a comeback).

9/11 was my first day (or one of the first few) of high school & my 15th birthday. I remember shuffling between classes with the news on in each before they sent us all home after lunch. I'm from near Bloomington Normal, so I was still very much of the people DFW wrote about.
