Film Noir by Faouzia manages to simultaneously sound like the soundtrack to a romantasy and a mafia romance, and is slowly becoming my favourite album of the year.

bite marks & broken hearts (🎧) t.j. rose ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 had such a fun time with this. sebastián & flynn had amazing chemistry and communication. i just wasn't expecting how dark this would get, especially seb's backstory 😭 + the killgrew crew are so precious. i can't wait to read their next adventure.

9 movies that shaped me 🎬🍿 my9movies.net/en/edit

anastasia, an american werewolf in london, spice world, the aqua diary, twilight, the mummy, practical magic, howl's moving castle, i saw the tv glow.

the river has roots (📖) amal el-mohtar ⭐⭐⭐⭐ this was so beautifully written - the way grammar is described as having power, and the witty dialogue between the sisters drew me in. i also LOVED the romance between Esther and Rin. it was sweet and magical and felt everlasting.

the sun down motel (📖) simone st. james ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 this was the perfect palette cleanser. i loved how both timelines coincided with each other and the "paranormal" aspect was presented so creepily. i did call everything before we reached the end 😎 but i enjoyed the journey too much to care.

spontaneous book haul 🫶 two new-to-me, two previously read. also, finding ACOBAW after finishing Big Bad Wolf felt like a sign from the universe. lol

four books on a table

the two on the top are: the sun blessed prince by lindsey byrd, and meet cute magic by morgan elizabeth.

the two on the bottom are: tentacles and triathlons by ashley bennett, and big bad wolf by laurie gilmore.

a curse of blood and wolves (melissa mcternan) and big bad wolf (laurie gilmore) side by side.

for those unaware, they are essentially the same story under two different pen names.

the knave & the moon (📖) rachel gillig ⭐⭐⭐⭐.75 my thoughts are still very jumbled, but i really did love this. i enjoyed learning more about the sprites and sybil & rory's search for faith and hope while the world around them was (literally) crumbling. + ALL the tears i shed for bartholomew 😭🥲🥰

"he really did try his best ... but he'll never have what's mine."

connor with eyes closed and mouth in a thin line. the kind of expression you'd wear if you attempting to hide how flustered you are.

big bad wolf (🎧) laurie gilmore ⭐⭐⭐⭐.25 this was fun! it gave me the same vibes as the books i read in high school but with a touch more tension and yearning and SPICE! be warned - it does have a very abrupt cliffhanger ending, but with the great set up & characters, i'm excited to read more.

kat || ✩₊˚.⋆☾𓃠☽⋆⁺₊✧ @katasstropheee.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Her Body & Other Parties (📖) Carmen Maria Machado ⭐⭐⭐ my favourite story by far was The Husband Stitch. very atmospheric. very eery. i got the gist of some stories more than others, but appreciate how well each one was presented. i just don't think literary fiction is for me, and that's okay.

120

kat || ✩₊˚.⋆☾𓃠☽⋆⁺₊✧ @katasstropheee.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Winging It With You (🎧) chip pons ⭐⭐⭐.75 the banter + yearning between Asher & Theo were my favourite parts. i enjoyed the smaller moments overall & wish the reality show aspect made more sense / was less lackluster. also, the third act conflict felt tacked-on and was resolved way too smoothly.

dearly departed (🎧) chip pons ⭐⭐⭐⭐.75 loved, loved, LOOOVED this! loved the different interpretations of grief & loneliness and how Hayden and Levi both brought out the best in each other. also loved how well mythology blended in to the modern setting. i hope the brothers get their own books 🤞

a prince among pirates (🎧) katie abdou ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 gave me ALL the OFMD vibes (god i miss that show 😭) getting to see Kit grow into his own person and fall in love with Captain Sharpe felt very cathartic & i really enjoyed his comradery with the other pirates. + "kitten" is the cutest pet name 🥰

the dire king (📖) william ritter ⭐⭐⭐ overall, a fitting conclusion to the Jackaby tetralogy. did drag a little in the middle & too many characters and locations were thrown in at the last second. but i enjoyed my time with these characters and in this world of magic.

die for me (🎧) shirlene obuobi ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ truly a 6 star, this might end up being my favourite read of the year. i just DEVOURED it (pun totes intended.) the chemistry between Sean and Julian was palpable. the characters felt humane and in depth. and of course, shout out to Onix the BESTEST of boys 🥹
