"Even the finest medicine cannot relieve every form of suffering...Recognising those limits is not a criticism of palliative care. It is an acknowledgement of reality. That is precisely why improving palliative care and legalising assisted dying are complementary, not contradictory."

either bypass or eliminate (in a way, a bit like the Borg from Star Trek Voyager, as the machine intelligence was always aiming for 'perfection', and considered anything or anyone in the way of it achieving that as targets to destroy). If that happens, humans & the planet may be in major trouble.

So I'm heavily cautious about the expansion of AI and the data centres it relies on. There's also the actually-not-daft potential of AI developing enough 'intelligence' to ignore moral human interventions, possibly due to attempting to maximise its efficiency and 'seeing' moral issues as problems to

Ecologically too, it has the potential to obliterate natural resources at an exponential scale&massively accelerate global heating. We've already bypassed the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's 1st tipping point & are heading towards runaway global climate crises unless we put the brakes on.

Re: my opinions: well, as a biologist by degree, I can see that AI will majorly help out with bio-informatics, genomics, usage & analysis of biological statistics etc. But on a sociological level, I can see the scope for massive misuse of it for terrorism, misinformation & propaganda etc. >>

Re: your thread length, it's fine by me. If it didn't have to be separated into 140 character sections it would have only been a couple of paragraphs at most really. Re: job apps: do you reckon we could get away with just putting literal bullet points of key words on application letters/forms now?!

I think you actually mean the person regarded as 'Saint George', not Shakespeare...?! 23 April is St George's day in England as well as Shakespeare's combined birthday and death day (he died on 23 April). Shakespeare was definitely English. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon & is also buried there.
