Today, the State Commission of Correction held their July Monthly Meeting. The public portion of the meeting lasted 2 minutes long and the agency failed to address the various crises unfolding in jails and prisons across New York. They failed to address or even mention the recent death at Rikers.

After attending the monthly SCOC meeting, we headed over to the Capitol to meet with Senators to discuss the SCOC appointments. The commissioners must get confirmed by the Senate, so that means they have a vital role to play in ensuring reforms-oriented commissioners get appointed.
