I also hereby declare that Denshattack! has perfected the Rainbow Road into space sequence, even more so than the one in Mario Kart World??? Truly, an incredible finale. Straight onto the GOTY list!

I hereby declare that Denshattack! has officially perfected the Guitar Hero boss battle riff, and all other versions have been rendered null and void.

I can feel myself getting pulled into Blood Dungeon the same way Vampire Survivors did all those years ago, and I've been trying so hard to resist it. But I've also just unlocked Skinja, and man alive, that naked, cartwheeling little freak sure can move across a map, hot damn!

I've completed the Station Eleven rewatch having read the book for the first time last month. The show was actually quite different to what I remember, but in loads of good, cool and interesting ways!

Just in case you weren't full from the Ocarina of Time Christmas dinner, have a Metroid dessert for New Year, says Nintendo. Yes please.

I always forget how wild it is that Ocarina of Time makes you board a full-blown ghost ship in what's essentially a portal to hell underneath the town graveyard.

Nintendo's bid for nostalgia above all else with the Ocarina remake is an interesting one. In some places, they're leaning into almost 1:1 recreations of old N64 art (see Link lifting the Master Sword). In others, like Sheik, it seems like her Smash Bros design is the stronger inspiration...

Did I get @mrbasilpesto.bsky.social a vinyl player for Christmas last year *solely* so I could also buy this as a very indulgent (and admittedly now very belated) birthday present for myself? I guess we'll never know.

Was just thinking earlier this week how it was a shame Nintendo hadn't done anything major for Zelda's 40th. And lo! Double Direct!

Capcom is on a generational run. But this is no renaissance: the company has never been greater. I reported on the secret of its success, from "Crapcom" in the early 2010s to its one-banger-after-another present, speaking to many of its most illustrious producers. www.theringer.com/2026/09/03/v...

How Capcom Cracked the Code of Game Development
The video game industry is in turmoil, but 2026 could be Capcom’s career year. How does the company behind ‘Resident Evil Requiem,’ ‘Pragmata,’ and ‘Onimusha: Way of the Sword’ keep pumping out hits?

Oh no, I've been playing Resident Evil 2 Remake, and there *definitely* isn't enough ammo to last even a day in that place, and that's before we start factoring in Mr. X. I'm toast.

Aww yeah, The Incident at Galley House is full of the good stuff - and its code-breaking mystery machine is scratching my brain in exactly the same way Inkle's TR-49 did six-odd months ago. Delicious.

SFB Games have done it again with The Mermaid Mask. A brilliant follow up to Tangle Tower, with an even more ingenious mystery at its core. It's the kind of game where you actively want to talk to everyone about every item just to savour all the great writing, animation & voice performances. Superb!

Baffling to me that people think Nintendo are playing it too safe, as if Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, Tomodachi Life, Yoshi And The Mysterious Book aren't all deeply strange games or unexpected sequels. Even Pokopia takes a beloved series into an entirely new genre. The Switch 2 is only a year old.
