From the menu of a new BBQ place near me:

Horrible slop image of several hands, including a hand growing out of another not quite holding skewers of undetermined content, possibly bacon wrapped marshmallows over a bowl of dip.

Next snack out of the air fryer: corn ribs. Had them with the leftover momo dipping sauce. Delicious. Drowned in spices is the only way I can stand the taste of sweetcorn but I like the texture.

Back in Japan. Video games and series like Midnight Diner are the closest I can get currently. #videogames #GhostOfYotei

Screenshot from Ghost of Yotei on the PS5, just after the title sequence. Atsu, the protagonist, sits on her horse facing away from the camera. In front of her is a beautifully rendered landscape of tall grass with forests on either side. Mt. Fuji can be seen in the distance. The sky consists of dramatic, dark clouds, with sun just breaking through a gap, just above the left slope of the mountain.
Atsu is wearing a yello top and a wide, flat, black hat. Slung across her back is her shamisen (three stringed musical instrument).

Heh. @randomlygeeking.bsky.social dropped in to help me assemble a bookcase and when he left, Car Cat was sitting on the roof of his car. Scampered when he approached, though. (photo from a couple of days ago, not Brian's car)

A cat with mostly white fur with some black patches on head and back is sitting on the roof of a black car.

Lunch was leftovers of yesterday's butternut squash soup as the base of a pasta sauce with added lentils from a tin, half a chopped onion and a finely sliced small green pepper. Photo of yesterday's soup. #soupsky #pastasky #cookingsky #foodsky

for upkeep, cleaning, utilities, food and other consumables, regular holidays and restaurant trips, private health care etc. for the next 30 or so years I have left, I'd still have enough left to do the same for at least a dozen of friends. It's a bonkers amount of money.

Photo of a bearded man walking through a city street. He is carrying an insane amount of photography gear, at least seven cameras, each with a different lens attached from wide angle to 300mm.
The caption reads: "If I win the lottery, I won't tell anyone but there will be signs."

Turned the roasted squash with added confit garlic and veg stock from a cube into soup, finished with a swirl of Greek yoghurt and a squeeze of lemon. It's delicious, if I may say so myself.

Orange soup with some Greek yoghurt swirled into it in grey/blue bowl on a dark brown wood effect counter.

So yes, mushroom skulls are a thing. Next proper food photo project sorted. #foodsky #photosky #mushrooms #skull #halloween

A small chestnut mushroom held between the fingers of my left hand. It has two large eye holes, a triangular nose hole, and the stem has several vertical and one horizontal cut to simulate teeth.

Result: Bench to sit on from the outside so I can swing my legs in and then holding on to the lower rail, stand up (and the reverse for getting out). Rail next to the shower to hold onto while I use it. My main issue has been not being able to lift my left leg high enough to get into the tub.

Photo of a bathtub. On the left is a wide board made of individual slats that sits across the tub. There are two white, textured rails screwed into the white tiled walls, one horizontally just above the rim of the tub for pushing myself up and the other vertically next to the electric shower.

I am watching The Wicker Man and was reminded of the quoted photo when this scene came on:

Sgt. Howie is lying on his bed in uniform. He's staring at a lit Hand of Glory that bears an uncanny resemblance to Trump's hand in the photo Aaron Rupar posted. It's similarly wrinkled and veined, only Trump's fingers aren't on fire.

My neighbour's cat disobeys the rules as well and is loafing across the footpath:

An orange and white cat - most of its back, the top half of its head and the tail are orange - is loafing on some paving stones next to a lawn, tail on the left, head on the right of the photo. It's looking straight into the camera.

The body horror starts in the corridor. My eyes! #TheSubstance

A corridor leading away from the camera. The walls and ceiling are bright red, strongly lit by two wide full length strip lights in the ceiling. The carpet has an eye-melting pattern in lighter red that looks a bit like chain links fill in with purple. The walls are lined with various posters of Demi Moore in aerobics outfits.

Last reskeet: Probably this:

The scary face projected onto the Enterprise's viewscreen in The Corbomite Maneuvre. It's a bald headed, vaguely humanoid face with a long nose and piercing eyes. It's bathed in wavering lights.

Seen at ALDI. Somewhat confused by the word "lifelike".

Photo of a "posable skeleton" Halloween decoration.
The top half of the photo is a ribcage, the lower half is packaging with a giant pair of circular eyes consisting of three concentric circles in white, orange and pink, with the black pupils in the centre. Below that is an illustration of a typical American style house. The skeleton sits on the stairs leading up to the porch surrounded by carved pumpkins.
The packaging includes the line "Joints hold a lifelike position".

I swear they are multiplying! Yet another local cat. I'm calling this one bandit.

This cat is mostly at the front and belly, except for a black bandit mask pattern on its face that make its yellow eyes especially striking. There is a tiny black mark on its lower chin. Its back and tail are mostly black. It's sitting on paving slabs, the right paw slightly further back, and is staring into the camera.

The same cat, now half loafing with its front paws still visible and in the same position as before. Still looking straight at the camera.

Just realised I forgot to post my first treat which was lunch. Made an approximation of crispy aromatic duck (leg poached in chicken stock with aromats and spices), then shredded and fried in a hot pan, with stir fried red peppers, red onions and garlic on rice cooked in the poaching liquid.

A ramen bowl with a mottled bluish glaze sitting on a wooden tablle. The left half contains shredded duck meat, the right half stir fried red peppers. Some rice is visible underneath.

Another treat to myself for getting through this week: The last beer from the Mexican box I got "free" (had to pay shipping) from Beer52 a while ago. Quite subtle in the porter typical aftertaste and only 5.5% so really quaffable.

A can with a black label. Half of it is a white silhouette of a sitting wolf. Then on two lines, the name of the beer: Loba Negra in all caps.
Next lines in white all caps: Craft porter

Caught in a compromising position from my kitchen window (through the gap between window and frame).

Mostly white, short-haired cat with grey tabby patch on its back and a tabby tail as well as a tabby "hairdo" is sitting back on asphalt surrounded by a few yellow leaves. Its yellow eyes are staring directly into the camera. its left hind leg is half raised, having just been dropped after it was licking its nethers.

A photo of a human hand holding a purple vampire squid that looks like it has bat wings. There are three further photos and illustrations laid over a seabed. Finally managed to take a photo from one of the cat who slink around my block of flats. Quite shy so I had to break out the long lens and stay inside my front door. #PhotoSky #CatSky #NotMyCat #cats

A mostly white, short-haired cat sitting with neatly placed front paws in front of a brownish-grey wall. There are black patches just below the ears, the one under the right ear larger, and more black patches on its back. The nose and inside of the ears are pink, the eyes are yellow and looking straight at the camera.
There are brown, fallen leaves behind it and to its right is the black wheel of a food waste bin. A plant with green leaves is creeping up the wall behind the wheel.

Aldi's knock-off version of Hobnobs are excellent but they don't make dark chocolate ones so I made my own. Bought a pack of plain ones and smeared melted dark chocolate on them. They aren't shiny because I couldn't be bothered tempering the chocolate properly.

Another experiment with the "black box". The concept is sound but it needs work. I need to line the box properly so there are no excess folds of fabric and constrict the lighting. #photography #photosky #StarWars #Lego #LegoStarWars

Found my puffin photos from a '91 trip to Iceland. This is my favourite. Taken with a Nikon F301 with the kit lens at 70mm, IIRC. Film was most likely a Fujifilm 400. Scanned print, no processing except a minor crop. I was like 2m away, lying in the wet grass. #photography #wildlife #puffin

A shallow DOF portrait orientation photo of a puffin sitting on a cliff. Its colourful beak is open. The left 2/3 of the background is dark blue sea, completely out of focus, the right hand part of the background is brownish rock, also out of focus. Its left leg and foot are obscured by an out of focus tuft of grass.
