I’m going to have to stay off the internet for a couple days. Mental health is diving and the news today can’t help. Visiting a couple food banks today. And trying to stay breathing and calm. What are we going to do? What are we going to do. People are going to die.

I grew up in poverty and I need people to understand it was free breakfast and lunch that ensured I had access to nutritious food, food in general. Summers were harder. But I loved school time because it was consistent. Even families not living in poverty DESERVE access to food. This isn’t a debate.

As long as we keep fighting, we stand a chance to make it better for them. Kids are strong, they’re people too, and they should care about their future. Hiding reality from them isn’t helpful. They must know the truth so they can grow and not repeat history’s mistakes. That’s how my mom raised me. ✊
