The problem with that is the people who object to the Idaho stop will never change their mind…not worth your energy to try to convince them. BUT if you do as you suggest…all the people who support bikers will become alienated. Cutting off your nose to spite your face type of thing.

He loves fostering and rescuing dogs. He knows you and how much you love and care for your dogs. He knows you have had a very hard time. I can‘t imagine he would not be happy for you and for Mia who will live a well loved life. Soak in the joy coming your way.

I want to make it clear I am not anti bikers. I just want everyone to be safe. Cars need their own roads. Bikes need their own pathways and lanes. Walkers need to be able to walk and not dodge e-bikes/e-bikes with no pedals and ridden like a motorcycle on our pathway. Safety for EVERYONE!

Thank you. My question was genuine and I appreciate learning the perspective of riders. I guess my concern/view was any protection is better than none but I did not realize drivers can be less cautious around a rider with a helmet thinking they are protected. It is a complicated issue!

I am appreciating comments like yours given without sarcasm. I had no idea that drivers would not treat a biker with the same caution with or without a helmet. I was simply imagining a head with even minimal protection And it concerned me.

Thank you for this. I had no idea that drivers would be less cautious if someone was not wearing a helmet. That helps me understand the reluctance for helmets. I just thought protecting your head made sense. In a car I am surrounded by metal, a seatbelt and feel safer. Bikers don’t have that.

I am learning about the risk of riders who find drivers are not as cautious around a bike if a person is wearing a helmet. I did not know that. I thought rental places had helmets to rent as well. I am learning as I go about what bikers experience.

Not true. Where I have walked daily for the last 6 years along a 30km roadway e-bikes keep up with the cars and very often pass them. Or they ride on the sidewalk and to get ahead of them. I fully support separate, protected bike lanes. There seems to be no political will to make it happen.
