The sandworm arced over her, spraying rocks and sand as it went, and Honeysuckle swooped to dodge a boulder the size of her entire body before whirling up towards the sky. I've heard that the audiobook makes it a lot better. My sweetie is reading it out loud to me, but maybe we'll get the audiobook for the second one. I'm hoping it goes in the direction of Hunger Games rather than just developing the relationship with his dad. But no spoilers please. ☺️

Easier to market an overly-short book than an overly-long one! I think any advice would have to come from a critique group, based on your actual MS. I'd look out for "talking heads" scenes as that's often where a draft is missing word count.

I'm in book one and not loving it so far. I'd hoped for Douglas Adams meets D&D, but so far it feels more like someone reporting their fever dream triggered by a 3-day MMORPG binge. Does he ever tackle substantive themes, or is it all just squishing bigger and bigger bugs?
