Don't worry, Delaware will do whatever it can to "stay competitive" with Texas, so it'll be coming soon here too

My problem with both sides of the argument is assuming that the Dems were any one thing. I think if you compare 1964 with 2004, it is clear that northern liberal Ds in the 1960s were to the left of later Ds while southern Ds were to the right. But since 2004, the party has moved to the left of both.

The left and the Democratic Party becoming more pro-Palestine is a good change, but having the wedge issue between moderates and progressives/socialists be Palestine rather than something like Medicare for All is going to lead to some very funky intra-coalition fights in the near future.

British politics is worse than American politics in nearly every way, but one thing they do have going for them is that their center-left party is actually willing to discuss public ownership as a key part of their platform rather than just redistribution www.mainstreamlabour.org/publications...

This is such a perfect complaint for this type of guy, because there is a lefty argument against HR as a concept in that it replaces unions and represents management instead of workers. But the more actual complaint here is that it flips dynamics within the workplace from male to female-dominated.

The best part of any Delaware political biography is when the author, who clearly was friendly with the subject and their family, has to contend with the fact that they were a huge racist

For the US version of this, I have been listening to this book about the Clinton presidency, kind of expecting a general critique of neoliberalism. Instead, they've unearthed Clinton's ambitious plans to reorganize the US economy in a more progressive direction, and how it died on the rocks.

My favorite new political tic (among both the left and right of the Democratic Party) is treating Gavin Newsom like he's already the Democratic nominee for 2028. Don't worry, pretty soon we'll figure out he was the only Democrat actually doing pizzagate for real and he'll flame out.

On April 18, 1988, something astounding happened in Delaware. In the deepest depths of an era focused on catering to business and wealthy white residents, Rev. Jesse Jackson pulled off an upset victory in the Democratic caucus for president in the corporate capital. (1/5)

It is funny how much discourse there is on the left about the lack of an American socialist or labor party when all of those European parties swung right basically as much as the American ones did around the same time, and many are even worse than the Democrats now jacobin.com/2026/02/labo...

Why America Never Got a Labor Party
In Europe, labor unions and socialist parties marched together and won massive reforms. In the United States, they were divided. Vivek Chibber explains how that split still shapes US politics today.

A big part of the internal mythos of Trump 2.0 was that they were going to redo the 2020 protests but "do it right" by using violence against protesters. Now that they have actually done that, and it turns out that it is making them even more unpopular and creating an even larger swing in opinion.

It was not nearly as high stakes as any of the notorious cases of this, but I've experienced this firsthand. Was parked behind my church one night (was in a rough emotional state and looking for somewhere quiet) and got the cops called on me. He flashed a bright light and started yelling at me.

My take on the campaign strategy discourse is that political campaigns are essentially battles for the fraction of your consciousness that most people devote to this stuff. All of us have lots going on in our lives, and so the vast majority of people, even regular voters, don't do in-depth research.
