NON/PHENOMENALITIES — a show co-curated by Shane Denson and artist Brett Amory at Gallery 120710 in Berkeley — opens July 26 with an amazing lineup of artists, and I couldn't be more excited about being one of them! Shane Denson: The title of this exhibition plays on the multiple senses of the “phenomenal.” On the one hand, the phenomenal is equated with spectacle and the spectacular, the exceptional appearance that dazzles its audience, like a pop phenomenon.

Memories remind us of the roads we have traveled and the people who have crossed our paths. We invite artists to explore this theme in its many forms, and submit works of art based on their personal and unique associations with the concept of reminiscence. Ravens thrive in this unique coastal interface of redwood forests, marine fog, and rugged headlands found around Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Their presence signals a healthy ecosystem—adaptable, yet still wild.
