More than nonpartisan, I'm anti-partisan. Will listen to any POV on civic topics if expressed rationally: 1) Identify the problem; 2) discuss solutions; and only then 3) say which politician will help. Main interest: Free, fair, and secure elections.

If you're not on Medicare, please know Trump has just emailed seniors saying we'll each get a $90 check from Medicare. This will cost $1,900,000,000 ($1.9 billion). Anyone who doesn't recognize that as a taxpayer-funded Republican tactic is either gullible or hasn't noticed it's an election year.

Hear, hear! Talking about AI as a thing capable of 'cheating' or having intentions hides the real issue: Corporations are negligently creating products without regard to harm. Humans are ALWAYS in control. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/o...

Do you know how much the pay of CEOs at major companies has skyrocketed since 1978? 50%? 100%? 500%? Try 1,316% Meanwhile, the typical workers’ compensation increased only 28%. This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

While I would not be surprised at all if Elon's tech bros had compromised one or both of the two main corporations that count America's votes, I cannot believe anyone who says "I have the texts and emails that prove wrong-doing" and does not share them. If you have evidence, prove it.

Putting your ballot in an envelope for someone else to insert into the tabulator is NEVER as safe as voting in person on Election Day. On average, 0.5-1% of ballots submitted in envelopes are lost, rejected, damaged, or otherwise not counted. In-person ballots are ALL counted.

Better yet: Vote in person at the polls on Election Day. That way, your marked ballot does not leave your hand until you yourself insert it into the tabulator. ZERO chance of loss or rejection. (Confirmation that your enveloped ballot was received does not confirm it was counted.)

When you vote in person, your ballot is safe from from any sort of accident or interference. Tell your friends, too, to vote in person if it is possible. Strengthen democracy: Get your ballot handed to you and don't let it out of your control until you insert it in the tabulator with your own hands.

A report detailed “grave concerns” that a new system being rushed into use by the U.S. Postal Service could imperil millions of mail ballots ahead of the midterm elections.

Never, ever fail to mention that the Republicans in Congress are enabling this. Mental illness is a involuntary disease, while congressional Republicans suffer only from cowardice and personal greed--choices. Go after congressional Republicans; Trump is a lost cause.

Listen up, if you believe that our elections produce accurate results: DO NOT protest a hand recount. It will get right-wing money to pay for proof positive that the correct winner was identified. Go farther: demand hand-counted 'audits' be a routine part of every election's certification process.

Obviously vaccines do not cause autism, but some people making uninformed claims is NOT justification for doing so ourselves. If you think the Wakefield paper stated vaccines cause autism, or that one paper is the basis for parental concern about vaccines, you are mis- or uninformed yourself.

It makes all the sense in the world--we should believe it when they say "elections are rigged." Then we should take action to protect our elections, instead of just telling each other "TRUST!"

If she has evidence that Musk rigged the election illegally (not by, say, funding micro-targeted campaign lies or legal vote suppression), she needs to go to an honest district attorney RIGHT NOW. I'm so effing tired of people saying they have evidence of wrong-doing and then never producing it.

6) Now let's talk about how mail-in ballots relentlessly disenfranchise every abused domestic partner in the state. Oops; no one has any data on that. Should we not care about abused partners? Election malefactors LOVE it when we promote mail-in voting--for ourselves.

5) 2022 EAC data: Oregon rejects 1.4% of submitted ballots (all in envelopes). Ohio rejects 0.3% of mailed ballots, but votes mostly in person. Result: 1 in 67 OR votes went uncounted; 1 in 1,667 of OH ballots did. Oregon leads the nation in percentage of submitted ballots that go uncounted.

4) MAIN POINT: You lose your right to vote whether your submitted ballot was uncounted because of fraud, legit rejection, or simple mishandling by election workers. Mistakes disqualify many more votes than fraud. (Google "Madison ballots profound failure" for just one example.)

3) If I had access and authority (e.g., I WAS the municipal clerk), I'd go in after hours, open ballots and mark additional votes to disqualify the ballot for overvotes, or I'd simply substitute ballots marked how I want them, reseal, and put them back. Who would know--there's no oversight.

2) I'd use my judgment to say the signature didn't match the on one file well enough; I'd apply the most stringent standards to the requirement for complete and legible envelope information and reject ballots for things like sloppy handwriting and leaving 'street' out of the address; and ...

1) If I was a GOP operative working as an election clerk, I could "hack" mail-in ballots. I'd check the address and if it was from the wrong neighborhood, I would open the envelope before Election Day (unsealed ballots are disqualified), and ...

3) One in 71 Oregon voters had their 2022 ballot rejected, while only one in 1,667 Ohio ballots went uncounted. An Oregon voter was roughly 23 times more likely to lose their right to have their votes counted. Oregon's system is good only if you hide the problem of uncounted ballots.

"...vote by mail, when done properly,..." Your words. 1) A lost vote is a lost vote. Fraud is possible, but likely the least reason why submitted ballots are not counted. Rejection, loss, mishandling by election workers are bigger issues. You should care.

It settles nothing to say "I stand by my statement" rather than engaging with the merits. Trusting that everything will be "done properly" protects elections only on planets where everything is always done properly--not here. Your stance increases opportunities for malefactors. Mine reduces them.

Tommy, you will realize, if you think for a moment, that willful blindness to legitimate risks/threats affecting America's elections does no one any favor--not the clerks, not the voters, not the candidates. We need sober caution, not blind trust, if we're going to have safe elections.

NO. Election workers handle your ballot multiple times after its delivered to the election clerks. You do not really believe that none of America's thousands of clerks are dishonest or careless--don't pretend you do. Learn more: Google "Madison clerk profound failure" for just one instance.

Crooked Republicans are delighted that Dem voters believe this. If the Dem voters trust mail-in ballots implicitly, they will not be on guard against lost, misdirected, altered, manipulated, disqualified, and rejected mail-in ballots. Wise voters don't let a marked ballot out of their hands.

Mail-in ballots can be 'hacked' in a dozen ways in-person ballots cannot. When a ballot leaves a voter's hands before an election, it can be stolen, manipulated, lost or invalidated in ways in-person ballots cannot. Do you imagine that mailed-in ballots are not counted by computers? (They are.)

Yes, what McConnell's team is doing is likely illegal. But Beshear's and his team's inaction is almost as bad. Just declare the seat vacant as of Aug. 3 (or pick a date) unless they prove Mitch competent to hold the job. Give them a deadline, and then call a special election.

Why hasn't Beshear declared the office vacant and scheduled a special election?!?!?!? If McConnell is alive, that would bring him out; if he's not, it'd call their bluff. C'mon, @govandybeshear.bsky.social Get this resolved!

Because the Dems spent 4+ years telling anyone and everyone that our elections are fair and secure. They could not turn around and say “we need to investigate” when trumps wins. How would that look? I think that Trump kept harping on it for this very reason.

Still, we need to remember--and learn from--the fact that if the Dem leaders had taken SCOTUS seriously--truly seriously--they would not have put their thumb on the scale to nominate a candidate with 55-63% national DISapproval rate. They were trying only to please each other, not the voters.

DO NOT FORGET: In most states, we still have the right to cast a ballot on Election Day at the polls. If we still used them mail-in ballots only for people who could genuinely not make it to the polls, this form of election interference wouldn't be possible. VOTE IN PERSON ON ELECTION DAY.
