If Google is pissing you off lately: DuckDuckGo has gotten very good, and you can toggle off all of the AI assistants and images. You don't even need an account (you can back up your settings with a savefile string)

The Duck Duck Go settings screen for AI allows you to completely turn off the assistant and AI images, or only see them when you click a button
