Alberta is shifting responsibility for health care costs on to individual patients instead of investing in public solutions. "If the surgeon can get four times as much to do private for pay surgery, they're going to prioritize that" @karenpalmeryvr.bsky.social & @bradenmannsyyc.bsky.social #health

🚨 VERY obviously full-body MRIs are a "longevity" industry scam. Reality: NO evidence of benefit, > possible harm, expensive. I’m a doctor. Here’s why I wouldn’t get a full-body MRI scan. wapo.st/3UR9X8b "...the American College of Radiology explicitly recommends against total body screening..."

Celebrities sing their praises, but I’m not convinced the average person needs or should spend their money on one.

A direct appeal to the doctors in the Liberal caucus, in my latest for the @hilltimes.com: www.hilltimes.com/2026/05/06/m...

Mark Carney has abandoned health care. Does his caucus care? - The Hill Times
The Liberal caucus includes seven physicians. It’s difficult to imagine they are blind to efforts that appear to embrace building the nation while somehow ignoring building a healthy Canada.

1 in 200 #polio infections leads to irreversible paralysis. In the 1960s children suffering from irreversible paralysis caused by polio were required to use 'iron lungs' to help them breathe. We don't see these 'iron lungs' anymore today because #VaccinesWork

POLIO. Deadly, crippling, preventable. My first tricycle was passed on by the next door neighbours, whose kid couldn't ride it any more because of polio. I was three years younger, caught the vaccine window.

⚠️ 2025: WHO forecasts a global shortfall of 11.1 million health workers by 2030. While the nursing workforce has grown to almost 30 million worldwide, inequalities between countries are a barrier to achieving universal health coverage.

Great op-ed clearly explaining the risks of Alberta's physician dual practice proposal and Canada Health Act considerations in the Hill Times by health policy expert @karenpalmeryvr.bsky.social www.hilltimes.com/story/2025/1...

Alberta’s hybrid health-care plan breaks the spirit—and likely the law—of Canadian Medicare
The safeguard Alberta seeks to eliminate prevents doctors from playing both sides at once, which would create a slower, second-class system for people who can’t afford to pay.
