Rex Simmons Right. There was lots of scientific evidence that this was a deadly virus that nobody had antibodies to fight at the beginning.
The trouble was even if children were at less risk and recovered from it, they took the virus home to immune compromised family members, including grandparents who often were caregivers to them. They also spread it in the community, where it was already raging with devastating results.
There was a point where lockdowns were good public health policy. According to polls at the time, up to 70 per cent of people supported them in Virginia, DC, and Maryland. That was true in many other states. The ones that rejected them and threw open their schools, restaurants, and other businesses experienced much higher mortality rates.
The vaccines were game changers. Now, the fact that most people have antibodies for COVID viruses make it less deadly. We all went back to normal life gratefully. But back in 2020-2021, those fighting lockdowns, masks, and other precautions were not on the side of science or history. And no amount of rewriting that history will change that."

Bingo. See my last post on this. Don’t give the Trump administration an excuse to declare martial law. Once that happens, it’s game over for the right to demonstrate, and for democracy. Martial law is the immediate precursor to a totalitarian takeover, including cancellation of midterm elections.

Probably an unpopular take with some people. But look up the Reichstag Fire. Don’t give Trump reason to declare martial law. That has been his plan all along. Ordering ICE into urban centers, deliberately inciting protests, is the strategy. Don’t give him that. Keep protests, large & peaceful.

The terrible thing is ordinary people can’t just ignore this and keep vaccinating their children. This recommendation affects who will have access to vaccines, regardless of whether they want it. It determines whether insurance companies will pay for them. It’s not just a personal decision now.
