jon (2017) (1/3)

Warm yellow fancomic cover. A gray toned comic panel of Jon Arbuckle from Garfield lies, as though on a table, in the center of the cover.

JON: a fancomic by gale galligan

PANEL 1
Exterior of a suburban house.
LIZ (off): I promise, you'll have a great time. We've known each other since undergrad, they're all really nice.
JON: But do any of them like polka?

PANEL 2
Liz and Jon prep snacks in the kitchen.
LIZ: Sweetie, nobody likes polka.
JON: Tell that to the international polka association.

PANEL 3
They carry party snacks out of the kitchen.
JON: Remind me: Jody and Evan, Ravi and Dan, Anna?
LIZ: Emma and Cameron.

PANEL 4
Liz sets down a party tray. She glares at a cat in the foreground. The cat yawns. It's Garfield.
LIZ: These are for the guests.

PANEL 1
Garfield eyes the snacks from a couch; a dog, Odie, is drooling over them.
JON (off): So Jody, Ravi, and Emma are vets, Evan's a lawyer, Dan's...
LIZ (off): A social worker, and Cam's an editor. For a science mag, I think.
JON (off): Hoo boy.

PANEL 2
Jon tries to bail; Liz grabs his arm.
JON: I'm gonna go pick out a tie.
LIZ: Come on! They're regular people.

PANEL 3
Liz hugs Jon tight.
JON: I dunno, Liz, it's just -- / it's my first time meeting your friends, and they're all... / I don't want to embarrass you.
LIZ: Jon.

PANEL 4
She takes his face in her hand.
LIZ: They're going to be our friends now.

PANEL 5
They kiss.
SFX: ding dong

PANEL 1
Liz opens the door to reveal Ravi (holding wine and wearing a tie) and Dan (in a snappy turtleneck).
LIZ: Ravi! Dan!
RAVI AND DAN: Liz!

PANEL 2
Ravi hugs Liz.
RAVI: You haven't changed a bit! How's work?
LIZ: Oh, the usual. Tiny dogs everywhere.
RAVI: Don't I know it.

PANEL 3
Ravi shakes hands with Jon; Dan has a hand on Ravi's shoulder.
RAVI: And this must be Jon!
DAN: We've heard so much about you.

PANEL 4
Dan thumps Jon's back; Jon stiffens nervously. Liz walks Ravi into the living room.
LIZ: Come on in! We've got cheese, snacks, a few bottles...

PANEL 5
Liz waves sheepishly over her shoulder at Jon; Jon is gesturing to the place at his collar where a tie WOULD be. We can see Ravi's tie very clearly in the foreground.

my idea from when groove first got announced #rhythmheaven

digital drawing of karate joe from rhythm heaven playing soccer as a goalkeeper

screenshot of a Tumblr post saying: "groove WILL have karate man and it will have some other piece of reading material elaborating on joes lore and I WILL have one more scrap to keep me going for the next 1 william years. and if they really want to cater to my self indulgence then they can make the karate man game about goalkeeping or something.... like follow up from the stuff from megamix aaaaa"

screenshot of a tumblr post saying: "my idea is that the minigame works like the other ones do but joes wearing a lil goalie outfit and keeping footballs out of the goal. he uses the same moves (punching and kicking etc. maybe there's a new one for catching/diving for the ball) so the gameplay is basically the same, just he's playing football... and the reading material accompanying it has him happy that he's finally doing something he loves"

tbh I still feel I get more enjoyment out of reading this short review of the first Mario movie than I do out of watching most full-length films

a 3 star review of the first Illumination Super Mario Bros. movie that reads as follows: I dressed up as funky kong to see this with coworkers and my manager was like "who the fuck are you" because I looked like a 90s weed dealer so I told her to "just wait and see" and then he never showed up in the movie

I think waking up in their arms was real weird for a while #rhythmheaven #リズム天国 #art

very rough and scribbly drawing of karate joe and space kicker from rhythm heaven. they are holding each other, and there's the suggestion of the morning sun shining on the two of them. joe looks up at sk with weary eyes and thinks "I don't deserve this..."

continuation of the drawing from before. the two are in bed, under a blanket with a star pattern on it. everything is pink but joe, who repeats "I don't deserve this..." to himself in his head

I feel like my art skills have low-key gone down the shitter but then I remembered I drew this recently.... #rhythmheaven #リズム天国 #art

digital painting of karate joe and space kicker (who I call ziggy) from rhythm heaven. they are lying shirtless and embracing each other, looking into each others eyes. joe is drawn here as a hairy trans man, and he has scarred knuckles and a wedding ring. ziggy is a purple humanoid alien, their skin is covered with pale patterns and spots and their cone-shaped ears are pierced. the style of the drawing is scribbly and painterly, with a soft pink and blue colour scheme.

made this for my bf who tried lao gan ma for the first time and we ended up needing to buy another jar the next day

the blobcore "Discovered something hoping it could save lives ; gets brainwashed of that thing" re-adapted to be discovering lao gan ma. the purple is photoshopped to red. chili crisp is on their shoulders. lao gan ma's face is photoshopped on the face. chili oil peanut is now the core. brainwashed has been changed to "beanwashed." the lips are stained with red chili. there are bean eyes

An ocean scene with a broad sky at daytime in an unusual color palette. Standing on top of the water center frame is Johnny Joestar, with the text above it reading "Take the next best step and pray."
