A bit last minute, but anyone in my feed interested in going to the Chrono Trigger concert in New York on 10/10?

Anime fans have got to be the worst fandom when it comes to having to neatly categorize everything and come up with labels for every subgenre, character type, plot device, etc. All it achieves is making everything seem even more derivative than it actually is.

Finished millsage's initial band story in Our Notes. What a wild rollercoaster ride that was! The final twist was an absolute sucker punch

More proof of how stupid LLMs really are: Twitter's auto-translate turns: バンドリ！アワーノーツ Ba N Do Ri ! A Uu Noo Tsu Bandori (BanG Dream)! Our Notes to "BanG Dream! Ave Mujica" because it's not doing any actual translation but looking for relevant matches.

And finished season 1. Really liked the last few episodes. The dialogue becomes more focused with less non-sequiturs, and thanks to that Hikiyama's MO is clearer (to the point of being spelled out in ep 12) which makes for a richer character.

A little over halfway through the first season of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU and it's... decent? I feel compelled to keep watching at the very least. Protagonist is exhausting, but in a believable way, but some of the comedic reliefs are too over the top.

Revisiting their stories in Our Notes, I realize that BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! and Ave Mujica are the closest I'd get to considering any anime a "must watch" MyGO elevates a generic music anime plot with masterful storytelling and beautifully flawed characters. And Ave Mujica is a JOURNEY.

Imagine if other emergency calls were treated like a Section 12 "Yes. it's true we don't see any reason to justify an emergency, but someone did call in a noise complaint so we'll have to take you in and confiscate anything that could potentially make a noise."

I think at this point it would be easier to list every mildly popular gacha game that HASN'T had a Persona collab.

Is there an official proseka fan theory that the entire story is a St. Elsewhere situation and Saki is imagining the whole thing from her hospital bed?

A little ironic for me to say, but can fandoms please stop discussing what is and isn't 'canon'?

I am not exactly shocked at Wolverine's reviews are less than stellar when their main selling point seemed to be "LOOK AT ALL THE BLOOD!"

Word of advice: if your priority is to do things as fast as possible, maybe don't play an MMO. Also learn how downtime is supposed to work.

Food for thought: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has less dungeons than Link's Awakening. (or the same number, if you count the final dungeon) Zelda dungeon lovers really were spoiled by LttP and OoT

The speed at which I went from "Oh, Our Notes' obligatory CAT cover" to "Oh this is something *special*" Seriously, after hearing so many low effort covers of this for various rhythm games, the effort they put into making this an Ave Mujica cover blows me away. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp6F...

Coincidentally been thinking about most of these recently, so here are my top 5 most disappointing video game sequels: 1. Awakened Fate Ultimatum 2. Code Vein II 3. AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative 4. Jak 2 5. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance A2

Been trying to fully form a thought all day about how outside of intention, the distinction between "good" art and "bad" art is pointless. Art criticism is so often used to make one individual or group to feel superior to another. Which is gross, because it can serve a purpose (1/3)

I think social media has gotten people way too comfortable with abbreviating everything. Saw a discussion on Discord where people were abbreviating The Witcher series as TW#. It's the word The and one more word, people. It took me all day to figure out what the heck they were talking about.

My therapist and I had a bit of a revelation today that everyone loves to talk about how imposter syndrome can be a problem in the workplace, but nobody seems to talk about imposter syndrome in social relationships which is probably WAY more common.

Redesigned and renamed (yes, I spent the $10 to do so) my main character in FFXIV. While I loved Tomato dearly, having her named and designed after Tamao made me feel locked into playing as Samurai, and the truth is I'm not the biggest fan of the class.

The more I think about it, the more I say good riddance to physical games. Yeah, it kind of sucks for preservation. But also, how many cassette tapes have you listened to this week? How many records pressed before the resurgence? Future gens will have their own media to consume.

I think it says everything about the American education system that we used to refer to "The Three R's," which were reading, writing, and arithmetic.

Backlog update: I've finished my digital/physical Playstation 4&5 games + my digital/physical Switch/Switch 2 games. The good news is this makes up a strong majority of my backlog. The bad news is I'm up to 185 games.

Developers: We're introducing a season pass system like you see in other games. Weirdos: Battlepass, gotcha. Developers: Well, no... this game has no battling, see, so... Weirdos: Nope, it's all battlepass. I think maybe 2 or 3 games actually call it a "battlepass" Out of like 30+

People who buy cards, comics, figures, etc as investment items, not things to enjoy, and therefore keep them from people who actually would enjoy them are just fandom landlords and they should be ashamed.

Honestly feel like Yumemita went a bit far with Viola as a villain. I get that "exaggerated" is the aesthetic they seem to be going for with this season, but the sheer magnitude of Viola's personality overshadows the characters the show is supposed to be about.

Why is this team always so weird about this? Nobody who was asking for an FF7 remake specifically wanted a 300 hour open world experience. When people say remake, they usually want fancier visuals, a refined script, some modernized controls and UI. That's all.

After an alleged 155 hours, I've finished the Apollo Justice remaster collection. Every game in that series feels longer than the last. SoJ was good, Rayfa is my new favorite AA character. I do wish the DLC episode was less "get the OGs back together" and more time with the entry's characters.

You know what would be perfect for the modern streaming services? An "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" reboot. Group of middle aged friends decide to escape the stresses of the world by meeting around a campfire once a week to tell ghost stories like they did when they were kids.

I don't know how hot a take this is in the baking scene, but I personally would like to ask y'all to stop moistening your cakes with sour cream. It isn't flavorless. You can make a moist enough cake without it, trust me.

Checked out two anime recently. One bad, one decently good. The bad one was the vending machine isekai. Checked it out after overhearing someone recommend it as a good parody at Anime Boston. And I firmly believe either most anime fans or most anime creators don't understand parody

Got to watch a streamer play through the end of Chapter 13 and all of Chapter 14 in FF7 Rebirth, and while there's still a bunch of (intentionally, I imagine) confusing parts, I finally at least have a grasp of what's going on.

I really don't understand the FFXIV community's disappointment with Stormblood. It is such an uplifting story filled with colorful locales. A great contrast to Heavensward's constantly bleak atmosphere and overall dreariness.
