If the current DA has publicly committed to defending his correctness in his earlier decision, it seems appropriate that it’s out of his hands, as well as the hands of anyone he supervises. So imo Kathy Hochul should be appointing Leticia James for the criminal portion.

This may be felony criminal theft and conversion of government property for political campaign purposes. 18 U.S.C. § 1641. It is a Hatch Act violation for any government employees who worked on it or used government resources to make it. It is blatantly unethical under numerous federal ethics provisions proscribing the use of government resources for political campaigns.

We’re at the “shipping container courts” stage of ICE’s mass expansion of the enforcement system.

Each detention unit would sit on asphalt or concrete behind an office's existing security fence, with a counter for processing people and a separate holding area fitted with a toilet and sink for detainees according to the draft work statement.
The agency also wants a 300-square-foot unit for interviewing people in custody and a 60-square-foot "Virtual Immigration Court Unit" for hearings run by the Executive Office for Immigration Review, the Justice Department agency that operates the immigration courts.
Both must also be designed for their purpose before delivery.

Iowan here, and that’s kind of oversimplifying things. First a combo of parties starting with Reagan let Iowa’s first class educational system deteriorate. Then the small towns were gutted with globalization. Then the later generations moved away. Then they pumped in talk radio but not Internet.

I agree with you and I think a good portion of the last election counted on it. The both sides of it is being deeply exploited and propagandized intentionally by other countries, so that the options are a (usually young) person can only wind up wanting to not vote or be radicalized.

Aside from the incompetence, I’m concerned about satellite imagery and communications companies acquiescing to leaders who don’t want to be reported on or, in the case of Starlink, who prefer to put their thumb on the scale to harm Ukraine or whomever else they want to help/hurt.

Texas has suspended over 1.2 million voter registrations. Many valid voters in Texas have found their voter registrations were somehow canceled when they checked. Check your registration here and fix it immediately - Texas doesn't always honor provisional ballots cast on election day.
