I’m not sure this is actually a good policy solution. I read this as “we know you can’t live off of what we pay you for jury duty but we’re not going change that ever.” What about the unemployed or those employed at small businesses?
Employers will now have to pay their employees their full rate of pay while they are serving on jury duty under House Bill
4844. Businesses with 25 or fewer employees are exempt from the requirement, which begins immediately.

There's a take going around pushing back about Democratic party politics being inaccessible compared to DSA, and that all you need to do is show up to a county party event. May I present to you the Cook County Democrats July calendar vs the Chicago DSA calendar (I'm a member of neither fwiw).
There isn't shit to do with the Cook County Dems in JulyThe CDSA calendar is fucking stacked

This is nice and all but I would much rather they deal with making it easier and cheaper to just BUILD MORE HOUSING so that it’s not so much a landlord’s market to begin with.

Your periodic reminder that the Democratic Party of Illinois is opposed to democracy reform that would in any way even maybe kinda infringe on their existing hold on power.

Y’all this is some crazy right-wing fever dream propaganda coming straight from the State Department
Today, Cuban agents and operatives maintain a foothold in hundreds of front groups, activist
organizations, solidarity centers, and ideological NGO and nonprofit networks. These groups
collectively represent one of the single largest, most sophisticated and dangerous vectors for
hostile foreign influence in modern American history. Many of the most significant upheavals in
recent American political history – from the George Floyd riots to the rise of Antifa to the
explosion of pro-terrorist activism on American college campuses – can be linked, in some way,
shape, or form, to Cuban influence.

NEW: We reported two years ago that Chicago police had made 200,000 secret traffic stops, failing to disclose them as required by law. Chicago police then admitted the problem, & promised to 'fix' it in a legislative hearing. We just investigated again: The problem... got WORSE.

The Pokémon fossil exhibit at the Field Museum is small but fun. Cool side-by-side comparisons of fossil Pokémon and the real life fossils they are based on. And Wednesdays are free entry for Illinois residents so you only have to get the special exhibit ticket.

Mayor Johnson built a progressive coalition to win and has actively let down key parts of that coalition, and done damage to vision for progressive governing in Chicago. Not sure it’s appreciated the number of highly involved voters that are actively mad about this.

With all the Callais fallout, the thing I keep coming back to is that the problem is and always has been single member districts. The redistricting part of the VRA was a roundabout way to get at how SMDs aren’t very democratic. But it was always patching a fundamentally flawed system.

Having a CTA train “due” at multiple stops at once is weird. It’s less weird for buses since some of the stops are so close and they can skip if there’s no one to pick up but it really makes no sense for trains.

The Illinois Election Code is screaming for a complete rewrite. The GA adds and never deletes. It's got indorse and endorse. Info about vote by mail affidavits in the same section as perforated ballot cards. And far too many "this section may be modified"s.
