As a former American living in Japan, yeah, the bases on Okinawa need to be shut down. The soldiers stationed there make life hell for the residents, far beyond just these kinds of incidents. I saw it myself during a vacation there last year. The soldiers detest and actively harass the residents.

Seen something similar here. The temple monks wear hakamas and they do this thing where they tuck their hands in the sleeves and take short steps. The hakama hides their legs and feet and it looks like they're levitating across the ground. Mundo creepy but pretty cool.

Just randomly found this 1979 cartoon in Tubi named Flash Gordon. The cheesy dialogue you'd expect, but the hand drawn animation of this show is amazing. All the ships have incredible detail and their movement is incredibly fluid. The effort the animators put into this is impressive.

I grew up in metro DC (Alexandria) so I was used to mass transit. Then I got a teaching job in rural Kentucky and was forced into the "car lifestyle"...and hated it. I now live in a city that gloriously caters to the pedestrian, and I couldn't be happier.

I cut all of them, but thankfully my oldest is more interest in shows we have on DVD than streamed titles. There are a few free streaming options here, but for non-Japanese content I use a VPN and stream the Roku channel and Tubi. Free, a huge selection of titles, and did I mention it's free?

I live in Japan. Imported food and fuel here is already expensive. I live near downtown. Everything but our jobs are in walking distance. The train is how I commute. That being said, since I don't have to buy gas for daily living I will STILL come out far better than those who do.
