I am remarkably lazy talking about my own books. I'd much rather yell about how great my friends' are, or the polycrisis, or any of my special interests (mostly books again, TBF) However: I wrote 🇨🇦 books! Gothic-dystopian dark fantasy x ecohorror for teens & up! Book 1 is free! books.kawiggins.com
Trope graphic; gold text and accents on a mottled dark background surrounding a 3D rendering of the third edition of Blind the Eyes by K.A. Wiggins. Text reads: Threads of Dreams #1: Blind the Eyes. YA+ Dark Fantasy that dives into the nigthmare-ridden depths and comes up fighting. Trope list includes: gothic-dystopian dark fantasy, upper YA coming-of-rage, haunted girl x nightmare boy, is everyone actually following the rules or am I just neurospicy???, don't put that in your mouth!, human sacrifice, everyone is lying, drowned city, ecopunk apocalypse, more blood than kissing, monster-infested (future) Vancouver, slow-burn, threadwitchery, alexithymia, the novel

Suitably productive on my impromptu writing/creative retreat (…last minute pet sitting for family😂) Tried a “backwards” revision (effective, avoids endless rewriting of openings, ending fatigue), sketched art for a zine/chapbook experiment (poorly, lol), tried whittling a spoon (no blood shed)

YA+ brainrot ecopunk cryptid horror

"You grow up afraid of the water here. Doesn’t matter if you ate in swimming lessons, the glacier-fed waters have these hidden currents. They’ll freeze your balls off and leave the rest of you on ice. We spend every summer throwing shade at the latest drownings while trading horror stories about what lurks in the depths. Those stories have me tucking my knees now, flinching at every lap against the pilings and straining to make out the chittering beneath the loon-call echoes of voices in the distance..."

Ecopunk cryptid horror meets the manosphere/toxic masculinity with a side of anticolonialism/anticapitalism & a splash of mid-2020s-era brainrot in this 6k word short in a dark speculative/horror anthology for teens and up featuring 13 haunting stories set on/near the British Columbian coast by Western Canadian authors.

Reader Advisory/Content Alerts:
bullying/hazing/harassment, implied assault, death-by-monster, racism/colonialism/white supremacy, sexism/patriarchy, terminal capitalism. The Kindread Coast, edited by Caroline Lavoie and Monique Riel. Factor Four Magazine, September 2025
lit-spec/CNF flash nightmare

"You are big and I am small and it’s time for my first dose. It’s a time before memory, on the babbling cusp of speech, or before, even, and I can only guess later at whether it went down bitter or syrup sweet. Did I struggle? Did I cry? Did I scream at the scorching as poison seared my throat?"

A 900-word flash nightmare of present future that blurs fiction/CNF with a literary/soft SF interpretation of the myriad polite fictions and lies we're all expected to maintain to keep society and family frictionless as a toxic substance.

Reader Advisory/Content Alerts: poisoning & toxic substances, child endangerment, gaslighting/propaganda/authoritarianism/fascism,
allusions to death/assisted dying/MAID. Inspired by the genocide against Palestinians and (finally?) realizing nice, white, neoliberal Canadian
society is anything but.Factor Four Magazine 50th Issue. (50 in orange tone text over blue clouds, designer unknown.)

The Daily Tomorrow, July 2025
7-part eco-apocalypse SF serial

“"The first stone’s stains were soon covered over as it grew, its crumbling edges smoothed in the process until it perched on the landscape, replete. Unlike a snowball, it did not roll. If any of the living had remained near enough to see it, they would have run in terror—or dropped to their knees in prayer. Neither act would have saved them from what was to come."

Anticolonial, ecopunk exploration of violence, memory, & taking back the future. Experimental-cerebral, concept-driven, 3,300-word soft/weird Sci-Fi short about a new type of climate apocalypse & what comes after. The Daily Tomorrow, text over newsprint background, designer unknown.
