One time our teachers got so distracted during junior assembly by a mere mention of the song "Hakuna Matata" that it resulted in us watching the first 30-45 minutes of The Lion King until the bell rang for morning break. To this day I have not seen the second half of The Lion King.

An edit of an over-filtered four panel Instagram meme. "Girls, did you know.... That uhm," it reads, before the girl in the original image is replaced with a Pianta from Mario Sunshine. "I'm a chuckster!" Panel 4 is a screenshot of Mario falling in a pit and dying. "TOO BAD!"

I love bad anime though. I watch and read so much objectively shit stuff because it's so much fun. I want to find reason to enjoy as much as I possibly can. It's very rare that I genuinely dislike something. Except Crane Game Girls. I wiped that one from my memory. But yeah fuck that show.

Bashou "nobody asked" versus Hun "i asked :D"

Bashou "neither option is of particular bother, can we please conclude this quickly and return home?" versus Hun "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE"

Bashou "gets annoyed when people give him gifts that they thought he might like because anyone who truly considers him knows that the less tying him to earth, the better" versus Hun "would probably be down to teach me how to make a pipe bomb as a joke so long as i was quiet"

I did cherry-pick a few core details from the Legend of Thunder dub since I am actually quite fond of it (please don't kill me TwT). I know it wasn't great (understatement) but there's something about its pure shitlord energy that I just adore. I love Bashou, but Hun and I are on the same wavelength

Literally one trip to LiveJournal back in May lead me to develop an entire new Pokemon AU and kickstarted my old Hun hyperfixation (I was obsessed with that fucker back in '17/'18). Anyway if anyone likes Bashou/Hun and Buson/Attila uhh here's the WIP???? archiveofourown.org/series/6174161

How to tell authors of 20+ year old Pokemon fanfiction that I have been onto old LiveJournal and Serebii Forum pages to read their old Team Rocket fics multiple times and that some of these works have influenced me so deeply that I'm now hyperfixating on my new secondary AU about these characters:

So that's my surprisingly wholesome story about Maburaho, the anime about the high school boy with a terminal disability, a harem and a magic ballsack.

001

lillith @kagarister.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

Like I knew generally what a sex comedy was and at that age I just brushed it all off as weird adult humour that I was now allowed to find funny as well. The worst shit went right over my head. Mum knew that anime could be risqué and from that experience trusted me to handle it well. Which I have.

100

lillith @kagarister.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

Anyway that was how I developed a taste for really shitty ecchi/harem anime because me and Mum found that shit hysterical. It was such a bonding moment, accidentally watching my first ever sex comedy at age 12. Mum just brushed it off because I'd already seen that one Simpsons streaking episode.

100

lillith @kagarister.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

I first started watching anime A) "Anime Title Episode 4 Part 2" on YouTube and B) getting DVDs from the video rental store. Which is how I picked up Maburaho thinking it was a normal magical girl anime like Sailor Moon. Fast forward to me watching it dubbed on the family TV in front of my mum.

I wanted to enjoy The Wallflower so much (I love Sunako...) but it's genuinely such an exhausting watch. Akikan is often pretty dull but it's absurd enough on average to keep me going. And I hear promising things about School Days so I swear I will finish it. Don't ask me what happened with Chocolat

100

lillith @kagarister.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

Like they're low hanging fruit but at least Pupa was funny-ish (?) and Midori was... interesting (?????) meanwhile AoaB was just dull. AND it shat all over Yuu Shiina's artstyle, which is what drew me to the anime in the first place after I read these superior texts and fell in love with it.

Funnily enough I think I genuinely struggled with shit like Ascendance of a Bookworm, The Wallflower, Chocolat no Mahou, School Days and Akikan more because I haven't finished any of them. I swear on my life I will finish the last two but man I am glad I dropped AoaB when I did (three episodes in).
