Playing Minish Cap and seeing the Ocarina remake has put into contrast just how bad Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are as Zelda games, they're not Zelda games really. As much as I adored Breath of the Wild, I missed the classic structure and would've loved to see that in an open world

Despite millions of correct examples in dozens upon dozens of media, and social media, that fact that Americans consistently refuse to pronounce Aussie correctly. It's the quickest way to piss off any Australian. It's fucking "Ozzie" you brainless arseholes

It's the logical conclusion to Soong's work, as we saw with B4 -> Lore -> Data -> Julianna. Julianna was Noonien's wife, when she died he preserved her mind in an android replica that replicated not only her appearance but all her biological functions. The golem body is the logical end point

I could be convinced to include Football (soccer) as a fourth. And speaking of soccer, AFL is one of only two "football" sports that can actually be called football, because the foot is the primary mode of moving the ball about the field.

Perhaps I'm being generous, it is Star Trek after all. But that's how I feel about it. I enjoyed Season 1, and thought it was genuinely good. Not great, not the best, just good.

An insult to the viewer? Hardly, Picard was 95 during Season 1, and had an incurable parietal lobe abnormality, him dying was set up in the first few episodes. That's not an insult, that's how stories work, setup and payoff. Hell you could argue his death was setup in TNG's finale.

¹ by behaviour here I mean the way my mind works in contrast to those around me, the neurologically divergent aspects of the diagnoses. The lack of characters often robs my posts of nuance

Now in my 40s I feel balanced, my identity had settled around a single truth. I'm queer in every way that matters, and always have been.

It wasn't until after I'd married someone that it all came pouring out again, so I pursued it this time, diagnoses be damned. And ignorantly stepped into hell. My transition was really difficult, and fucked me mentally for basically a decade; I lost my 30s.

Not only was I always different from everyone, but when actually coming out as queer few believed be. I was doubly queer. But that lack of belief led me to suppress my trans self for a further 5 years, to retreat into the easy answer that autism did it.
110
Kaelyrhn 3³ ✅ @kaelyrhn.kayleighbourquin.com · 12/10/2026
But that no one saw it coming made the coming out a lot more difficult than I'd hoped. People were so ready to believe what some psychological textbook said about who I was supposed to be. But refused to accept the me I was telling them I am. Or that my diagnoses caused be to be trans.

Kaelyrhn 3³ ✅ @kaelyrhn.kayleighbourquin.com · 12/10/2026
It was bad enough that everyone who learned I had those diagnoses assumed they knew everything about me, placing me into rigid boxes, let alone my doing that to myself. When I came out as trans it felt, in some small part that I finally got to reveal a part of myself that no one had assumed before

Kaelyrhn 3³ ✅ @kaelyrhn.kayleighbourquin.com · 12/10/2026
My differences had a name, something everyone could blame, to claim that everything I did was a result of those disgnoses. There was no such person as me, just a walking diagnosis. My Mum offered me books on the diagnoses, but steadfastly refused.

Having been diagnosed with ADHD (or ADD) at 5 and Autism (or Asperger's) at 12, feels like I've always been queer. Obviously those conditions aren't inherently queer, but I've always felt different from those around me, not just because of my behaviour¹, but also because of those labels.

It's a good time to remind people of confirmation bias. Be careful not to let your desire that something is true cloud you to the lack of evidence for that thing being true
000
Kaelyrhn 3³ ✅ @kaelyrhn.kayleighbourquin.com · 12/10/2026
"If confirmed" is a pretty big 'if' here. I, too, would like to believe that none of the far right movements are organic. But, while they maybe started as astroturf, it seems a lot of actual people are now supporting these far right movements

S2 was built from the S1 team's original ideas and plan, and Terry Matalas' desire to clean house to get ready for the insultingly unnecessary TNG S8

Kaelyrhn 3³ ✅ @kaelyrhn.kayleighbourquin.com · 11/10/2026
S2 does pick up elements introduced in S1, such as Picard's harsh invective that the Borg don't change, parts of season 2 is about how some did, it also picks up on the political messaging of S1 and reflects that onto our own world

I've finished season 1 of Star Trek Picard, and it's genuinely good. It becomes messy in the last episode but pulls itself together by the end. I only wish Picard stayed dead. Then we would be spared season 3

Star Wars Galactic Racer needs a selection of diegetic radio stations, to cater to the gamut of musical tastes for a game such as this, beyond the Williamsesque stylings of Gordy Haab, who is excellent here and elsewhere.

How we manage that harm, how we put in place habits and behaviours to avoid or mitigate, or how we deal with the aftermath of harm, that's more important then some kind of impossible abstinence.
000
Kaelyrhn 3³ ✅ @kaelyrhn.kayleighbourquin.com · 11/10/2026
I'm sure some would pithily say that "they should just not harm anyone then" but that's an impossible expectation. I've harmed people before without even meaning to, just because I was doing the things I normally do. Harm, in some capacity, is almost inevitable in human relationships.
100
Kaelyrhn 3³ ✅ @kaelyrhn.kayleighbourquin.com · 11/10/2026
Under such a scenario any one who has ever harmed another person, regardless of the circumstances of that harm, would be well incentivised to conceal what they did, to never speak on it, to lie. And they would not be wrong to do so. Because were it to come out their lives would be over.

Kaelyrhn 3³ ✅ @kaelyrhn.kayleighbourquin.com · 11/10/2026
No path forward, just an indelible mark of shame that they will never be rid of. They might as well commit suicide at that point, given they'd have no future whatsoever when faced with the vengeance driven mark of shame forced upon them.

Kaelyrhn 3³ ✅ @kaelyrhn.kayleighbourquin.com · 11/10/2026
So I turn to rehabilitation & redemption as viable paths forward a lot more than most people seem to do. They're caught up in a collective desire for some sort of vengeance, not necessarily violence, but some sort of scarlet letter forever marking those who harm others as those who harms others.
