And I'm not sure it's as useful a descriptor as it used to be. It was used in direct response to the nth number of Issue Books in the 00s and early 10s, where characters might be gay but were still dealing with our-world prejudices.

It's... more of a promise that they main plot isn't going to focus on bigotry and the reader doesn't have to worry about our world's prejudices. That said, there's a lot of grey area to explore in that.

For me, it's a setting where the MC and their co don't deal with having to hide what they are, but doesn't magically mean there aren't other complications. IE A prince marries a prince and no one cares about the m/m aspect, *but* they might make a fuss about heirs.

Yeah, I actually got a reading light because I'd gotten so used to being able to read my eBooks in the dark. Now I switch between the two modes because my eldest recognizes my eReader is also reading.

I've had the same experience. Although I've also found it interesting to interrogate *why* I felt like I was in a different place in the book, and often the beats are different/the plot is not going where I expected/etc.

Yes! CG has commented on how long it's taken me to read books several times now ("is that a new one? already??" and "haven't you been reading that same book for a while?" lol) which opens up convos as well

Also it's just nice to hold a physical book and see/feel the progression of pages. I love my eReader and it's portability (and the ability to get a book instantly), but I wish there was a better way to get a feel for how long a book is.

Visibility is why I switched to physical books over reading on my eReader. I realized, to my littler kids, it just looked like I was on devices all the time otherwise 😅

There are apparently two kinds of bamboo: clumping and spreading. Spreading, well, spreads everywhere. Clumping is supposed to stay in one place but: surprise! It just spreads more slowly.

My wife got a mini chainsaw to deal with the bamboo in our backyard (pro tip: never, *ever* plant bamboo, yes I am glaring daggers at the house's previous owners) and I have discovered the chainsaw is good for many things. Small trees. Prickly vines. Mental health. Patriarchy. Bamboo.

Having worked in the corporate world for the past... forever... it's unfortunately a problem tangled up with their purchasing and IT depts. But yeah, here's hoping more authors using LO helps them make better decisions in the future.

This is really good to hear because when my Windows-running laptop died I just shrugged and leapt straight into Linux and using LibreOffice, so I have no version of Word anymore.
